Check the boot order in the BIOS, the device with the OS (generally the hard drive) may have been removed from the order so the PC isn't looking there.
The hard drive may also have crashed or become corrupted. You may need to replace the drive or reformat and reinstall an OS onto it. Try putting the HDD in another computer and seeing if it works at all.

No Operating System found
If the System stops with 'No Operating System found' error, the issue might due to any of the following:
1. Boot files of the OS is corrupted.
2. Hard Drive is damaged/not detected.
Here are the steps to troubleshoot the issue:
Step 1:
Restart the NB and Reset the BIOS. Check if the Hard Drive is detected in the BIOS. If it is detected in BIOS, save changes and exit, and try booting. If it is not detected, then try HDD Test. Latest Model NBs have HDD Self Test Utility in BIOS. For the Older Models, you can use the Hitachi test Utility.
The Drive Fitness utility available at this link to test the hard drive:

Please refer this link for the detailed instructions for downloading the Drive Fitness Utility:

For using Bootable CD:

NOTE: Burn the ISO image in the CD, and boot the Presario with that CD to perform the Hard Disk Test. The detailed instructions are available in the manual available at the same link. Please download it and follow the instructions.
Step 2:
If the HDD is detected fine, but the system is not booting, then try to start the NB in Safe Mode. If it boots in Safe Mode or gets up to Startup Menu Screen, try the Last Known Good Configuration and System Restore.
Step 3:
If Step 2 fails to work, try Windows XP Repair Installation. If that too fails, then perform a full system restore.
Good Luck and Happy Browsing.........

you most probably lost you partitioning information on your hard drive. Thus all your data is now in limbo. You will need a data recovery program on a bootable disk to recover your data. if there isn't any important data on the drive i would suggest reloading your operating system. The partition will be created again then your disk must be formatted again. Or your hard drive may be gone also.

If you have a restore option on bootup while still in the bios screen, hit the key to restore, otherwise you will need either a restore disk or a windows install disk.
