Look for the "Bluetooth" logo. This refers to wireless capability in devices.

If your laptop already has Bluetooth (many do) then buy a Bluetooth adapter that can be used on any USB printer of your choice :

If your laptop does not then get a USB Bluetooth adapter for it as well:

BlueTooth may or may not work well between floors....

SO ... a better option :

Get a wireless router (if your laptop is WiFi capable) that has Print Server capabilities. You can connect any USB printer to it & print from any nearby WiFi enabled PC (even one floor down).

Right. You need a wireless print server (router) -- the printer will always have cords and be wired. Essentially your laptop will use its wireless card to tell the printer to print via the print server or router. You can also get a little gadget that attaches itself to the printer to receive your print command. That is beyond my area of knowledge, though.

We have an HP Officejet or something (it's not the best printer) and I have wired our house for wireless with the same product(s) as the previous answerer. I have an Airport Extreme base station and an Airport Express. With these two wireless routers I am able to (among other things) print wirelessly from any place in our flat (we do not have stairs, you may find that it is difficult to transmit your signal downstairs without a boost (access point)). You want to shop at Walmart? They may sell wirelss routers nowadays -- I do not know what they have. You will ultimately create a wireless network in your house -- great fun!!!

the best option is to get a wireless print server. This will mean that you can use any printer and make it print wirelessly.

I use the Apple Airtunes (airport express). This has a wireless print server and also lets me stream my iTunes music and podcasts to any stereo in the house!

"community printer" and "on the spot printer" are the comparable component, basically one is greater wide than the different.
