I have been wanting to upgrade the memory in my old Dell (256 MB) for quite some time but it is just too expensive. My comp. uses RDRAM PC800. Prices on the internet are ~$200 for 512 MB. Since I would have to remove 128 MB (all 4 slots used), that would give me an increase of 384 MB for $200. I have other computers but I like my old Dell, it has a kickass AGP videocard but when playing games the bottleneck is definitely the RAM.

This technology does not seem to be used anymore so I was hoping the price would come down. I have been watching the prices for years and don't see it budging.

Any thoughts?

I have an old 2003 R40, and in the product specs (http://compreviews.about.com/cs/laptops/gr/aaprThinkPadR40.htm) it said i have 40gbs of hard drive space. However, when I check the properties of the driver [(C:)], it says i only have 15.6gbs. Does anyone know why/how?

I've just got a Geforce 7600 GS (AGP) for my computer and tried to install it. Unfortunatley my monitor cannot pick it up. The fan works so power is getting to the monitor. If anyone knows where I am going wrong or if they know where to get a hardware installation manual from the web it would be appreciated

I have a Radeon 9500 Pro/9700. I'm running into some black flickering boxes appearing when I play Sims 2 (after I've been using the Internet) I usually restart the computer and then they're gone.

Now I notice that video footage from a new Sony HD camcorder appears choppy when played in Windows Media Player and Adobe Photo Elements. It does not appear choppy when it viewed via the camcorder software.

Please advise... thanks, p.

Sometimes while on the computer (on and/or off line) my cursor/pointer starts jumping around. I am running a scan now to try to stop it. Why does that happen and what do I do about it? Will an anti-virus scan stop it? Is this some type of virus??? I already did Spybot and Ad-aware scans and it's still jumping... Thanks

Hey guys, i recently received my router to connect my laptop to the net wirelessly, and while trying to install the device into my desktop, i realised that my computer does not have an ethernet slot! Hence I am unable to connect my router to my desktop and am totally puzzled what to do now. Do I have any options other than getting myself a new desktop? Your help would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. In case you are wondering, I got my desktop in 2001 (yeah i know its old, lol), its a compaq presario. i dont have the model no. to hand.

Ok, let's say I were to buy an AMD 64 X2 3800+ 2Ghz dual core processor. Does this mean that there are 2 cores that run at 1Ghz each, or does it mean that there are 2 cores that run at 2Ghz each?
