Purchase the latest up to date model available, take it home, get it all hooked up, turn it on, log onto the internet, and there will be a pop-up that tells you that you need to upgrade NOW because there is something new on the market.
Ignore it and use your PC for about 3 years.

It depends on what you are using the PC for. If you are just using it for web browsing, email, Microsoft Office, listening to music, burning CDs, etc, it will last 5+ years. If you are using it for high end graphic applications or high end gaming, then under 2 years.

depending on what u do. if u only type in on word, it might last forever; if u use hardcore apps, like pro video, 3D or design ; i'll give it 3 years, if u are pixar studios, lets say 6 months; and evidently u are not a programmer so nevermind that...
