excellent selection, congratulations !

starting processor, the 4 mb l2 cache is awesome
however, if i were to order ...
i would limit coverage to 3 years & not 4
that money i'd spend on the ddr2 ram, 667 mhz & not 533 mhz
> to fully utilize the processors 667 mhz fsb

It is a very nice system. The price seems a 'llitle' high. I would like to comment on the various specs:

Processor: Great
OS: Great.
RAM: Good, but would be a little faster to match your CPU @ 667 (if possible and in the budget)
HD: 7200RPM and more than 100G would be a much better decision, but more $$$
Optical: Good, but you didnt mention brand/model/speed
Display: Good, but I am spoiled with a 17 inch and full size keyboard.
Video: Great
Sound: Good
Battery: 8 cell would be better choice if you will use on the road.
Service: Great!

It is your service options that have drove the price up beyond where I am used to, but for 4 years you will not have to worry about it ever being broke.

Other comments:
Bluetooth is such a cheap option, you may want to consider for $20
You didnt mention any integrated software, which will also impact the price. Please note that when you get it, Dell will bundle in a BUNCH of junk, so I recommend spending your first day using something winpatrol to disable a bunch of startups and uninstalling software. Trash the norton 30 or 60 day eval and get either Avast or AVG for free. Norton is a memory and CPU hog and will try to take over your computer.
Also you didnt state, but consider a standard PCMCIA port instead of the new ExpressCard/54 if you currently have a bunch of PCMCIA cards that you will want to use. They are not compatible. If you dont have anything, then the EC54 is the wave of the future.

Go to Dell's web page (http://www.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/inspn_e1505?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs) and select your configuration.
I got 1,629$ with a 120GB Hard Drive.
