its two cores both CAPABLE of running at 2 Ghz. only certain programs that are written to take advantage of processor multitasking can benefit from that. OR if you are running multiple programs, then some will be processed by one CPU, some by the other.

Don't think it is twice as fast!
A 2Ghz single core, and a 2Ghz dual core run at 2Ghz, NOT 4Ghz.
The second core will range from 20% to 80% of 2Ghz depending on the application you are multi tasking.

dual core means multithreading at ridiculus speeds, although im certain that it does not mean the two cores running at 2ghz each, it means it spilts up the frequency into more cache which results in faster speeds. so to answer ur question on it is only 1ghz each core.

im running 2 comps with 3800x2, yes there 2 gigs each, no it dosen,t double your speed, but makes a big difference (burn movies and play games at the same time) my single core 2gig in the same comp couldn,t do this, software for dual cores and 64bit is comming, then watch out!!!!

yea that would mean two runnig at 2gig each wich woulod be pretty fast , ive seen peopel with just 1gig each and its pretty dang quick, altho im sure u could get faster than 2gig dual but why would u want to isnt 2 2gig coer at once fast enuf :-P
