Sometimes while on the computer (on and/or off line) my cursor/pointer starts jumping around. I am running a scan now to try to stop it. Why does that happen and what do I do about it? Will an anti-virus scan stop it? Is this some type of virus??? I already did Spybot and Ad-aware scans and it's still jumping... Thanks

Your mouse could be dirty and the dirt is causing the ball to move around. The cursor will therefore "jump around" without you realizing it's the mouse.

Simply open the mouse and use a pair of tweezers to remove the dust and dirt.

My hassle-free answer - while you're precise surpassed; stress of your wrist on the pc floor. because it happened on an Asus, Lenovo & now Samsung, i assume all manufacturers ascertain on a similar factor putting interior the casing, there is something under this section that's soft to stress. attempt engaged on a low table, so your wrist does not relax on the section (I constantly positioned on the paint off this section from use) & you ought to discover it magically stops. it is collectively as on line in e.g. your mail & on your word processing kit. added, you're able to be able to discover as I did that once a definite key's typed e.g. 't' or 'T' is the start component (it replaced into for me). So whilst typing 'the', 't' might reason the bounce, 'h' created an area someplace else on the exhibit screen or chosen sort any key after that the two persisted or deleted highlighted section. it is not because of the fact of Viruses. I have been given paranoid & tried each and every thing. If i got here across something, it replaced into because of the fact at that degree something replaced into there yet wasn't the reason for 'leaping Cursor'. it is not your WP kit. I dropped word & went to Apache Open place of work & the fault persisted. as a result: My purely end is the manufacturers making a hash of issues. teach your self to enhance your wrist. confusing yet is obtainable. My concern is solved. i ponder whether any shoppers experiencing this are 'lefties'? If particular, it skill the manufacturers choose engineer greater advantageous casings - if i'm ultimate suited in this. good success all

Try lowering your mouse tracking setting in the mouse control panel.

Didn't work? Clean the gunk out of (if it's a ball type) or replace the mouse.

If you are using an Optical/Laser mouse, it could be that the surface your mouse is sitting on is dirty or has some chariteristic that is distorting the reflection. Try the mouse on another surface and see if the problem persists.

try cleaning the optical sensor underneath your mouse. then place it on a piece of opaque material like a mouse pad or paper/board. if all else fails, get a new mouse
