I turn on my computer, and after the main Windows screen comes up, I have to wait about 20 seconds before I can get internet access. I know I've got it when I see my desktop icons refresh themselves. If I try to get on the net before it refreshes, not only will it not work, but I won't be able to get on the net as long as my computer is on, and then I have to reboot and not touch anything until it refreshes. I've reformatted the hard drive a couple times (about every six months or so, just to clean out the junk), and I notice that on the first couple times after the reformat, I don't have this problem. I haven't been able to specify a driver or program that causes this problem. Can anyone help?

um, i have a stupid question (NOBODY POINT THAT OUT) but i have two computers. one of them if four years old and is an eMachine. the other is less than a year old and is a Cisnet. i think that the power pack in the eMachine is dead. i KNOW its not the HD. but i wanna try an get some of the stuff off it. can i put that HD in the Cisnet? if i cant, then tell me how to get my stuff off of it. that is, if its even possible to do w/out the eMachine on and functional.

Question is self explanator. There used to be the Giga-byte QuadRoyal SLI board, but for some reason it has been taken off the market. I'm not sure why.

Usually XP will detect new hardware when I put a network card into the motherboard and then the wizard will pop up and I will be able to install the drivers. I have tried to manually recognize the hardware but that did not work. I have also tried different slots on the motherboard and even a sound card but the computer will still not detect them.

I have a pc with this configuration :
AMD Athlon 2400+, 2.0 GHz, 256 RAM, 40GB Hard Disk, Windows XP Operating System
The problem is my monitor screen blinks, it goes off (totally blank) for about 1 sec. or so and comes back automatically, this disturbs a lot. There is no periodicity in this, sometimes very frequent. The pc is attached with UPS, so no voltage fluctuations are possible.
What could be the reason and the possible solutions ????
P.S. The Monitor is LG Studioworks 450N
Please Help !!

XP Pro o/s with Intel® Pentium® 4, 3.0GHz with H.T (1MB cache), 915 GV chipset, 800MHz FSB, 256MB DDR RAM, 80GB 7200RPM S-ATA HDD, Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900.

I want to upgrade the RAM from 256 MB (PC 3200) to 1 GB, please suggest the best configurations possible, with existing 256 MB RAM.

256 MB x 4
256 MB x 2 + 512 MB

512 MB x 2 (in this case my 256 MB RAM will get wasted)

Thanking you all in advance !
