i am looking to build a computer soon and motherboards are probably the least i am fluent in.. what kind of features FOR A GAMING MACHINE should i make sure my motherboard has that are crucial for my happiness?

go for AMD processor and Asus nvidia series motherboard, with Onboard graphics and also an 16X PCI express slot... But add Minimum 1 GB RAM of 400 MHz....

SATA ports, PCI Express video slots, DDR2 memory support, and the newest CPU compatibility (1066 MHz bus or better).

It should have more PCI slots, see How can u expand RAM, wat is speed of RAM supported, Speed or processor, dual proc support, In build Audio n Video card, support for additional Audio video card.
