how long would it take to refomrat a 100 Gb haard drive that only has like 10 gb used? im thinking becuase i need to fix file system and reinstall xp pro

With Quick Format about 30s and with Format about 20 maybe 30 min.

well that would still take some time cause of the drivers its not the formatting that takes the time really, why are u doing this in the first place?

use a system mechanic ,Norton
system works , VCOM system suite product it defrag, check error also check malaware/adware/spyware/virus it does a tune-up on the hard drive like spring cleaning it works alot faster than the WINXP version.
al so depend on the cpu speed , ram ,power supply any dust bunny in the tower ?

depends on your processor speed. If not less than 500Mhz, less than 30 minutes.
