I recently bought a portable air conditioner for my room and after I plugged it into my wall I noticed that my cable modem doesn't work anymore. After trying to figure out why it stopped working I came to realize that my problem was a power management problem. I found out that when I have my portable a/c running my cable modem doesnt work but when the a/c isnt running the modem works. The problem is that I cannot connect my modem to another power outlet since it is too far away in the room so it won't reach my computer. My question is that is there something I can use or do to support both power supplies my portable a/c as well as my cable modem and have them both working at the same time???

My house's current setup uses one cable connection for all the TV's and the one modem we have. Everything works fine. In one room, there's a wall outlet that is split off towards the modem and one of the TV's. Another outlet is in another room, with just a TV connected.

I was planning on adding another cable modem to the room with just the one TV connected using a splitter, much like connection used in the first room. I'm using Cox cable for my service provider. I'm not sure if it will work, and if so, if the quality of the connections will be the same/similar.

The reason for the second cable modem is to try and give the one room in the house wired Internet, over the current wireless Internet I have, so please don't suggest getting a wireless router.

Thank you in advance.

ok first off dont even mention the word wireless. my house is wired. anyway i have a nyko 50ft ethernet cable i use to hookup my router to my sisters computer and it recently broke and i was wondering if i could find a cheap like 7 dollar 50ft cat5 ethernet cable on like ebay maybe? either a 50 foot ehternet cable OR TWO 25FT ethernet cables (b/c i have a splittler for that). yeah so if someone could tell me a popular store that might have one or someoens got a buy it now link to an auction on ebay, that would be great.
