No, a WEP key is a way to protect your wireless network by encrypting (scrambling) your data so that it is hard for anyone around to capture it.

If you are looking to secure your network, use a hard-to-guess mix of letters and numbers that only you can forget (or at least save it at a secret location outside your computer). Unfortunately, WEP keys are easy to decipher and your data may be at risk so I would suggest WPA if your hardware supports it.

Hope this helps to clear out your doubt.

No. WEP is the encryption password for your wireless router.

To get your local IP go to a command prompt and type nbtstat -a

WEP is for wireless signal encryption. It keeps other people from being able to connect to your wireless network or "grab" your data.

Your IP address is your computers internet "address".

No. A wep key is the key you used to secure your router from outside access to your network. Of course you already know the key you used because it's your network .....right? (lol)

Wireless Encryption Protection (or something like that). It is the access code for a computer to connect to your wireless network.
