i recently hooked up my old computer upstairs with my newer one downstairs. the one downstairs is set up on a modem with comcast . I purchased a wireless router so i could get on the internet on my old computer. the router is set up with the modem . although i hav the wireless router correctly set up i am still not able to get on to my computer upstairs, can someone please help me with this problem

so u guys are saying that old computers dont pick up signals so i need a wireless adapter to pick up the signals off of my wireless router..?

did u get a wireless adapter for the computer upstairs n run the setup wizard ?

Like Jake said you need the wireless adapter - assume you have this.
My dad has this problem sometimes with comcast
Turn everything off
Turn on comcast modem first
Router
Then the computers
This works for him

you might need a long cable going upstairs. unless you have a wireless service near by.

Well, most old computers don't have the capability of connecting wirelessly. Try using your new computer wirelessly and plugging in your old computer directly to the modem.
