I have the Novatel USB for the sprint wireless network and would like to know how I could use it for multiple computers within our house. Could I find a wireless router with a usb connection port and go from there?

This is going to require an interesting setup to work, and I can't guarantee this will work for you. Therefore, if you decide to get a wireless router, make sure the vendor you buy it from is willing to take it back in case my procedure below fails to work for you. You didn't say which operating system you're using, so the procedure is for Windows XP.

Go to Control Panel and select Network Connections. Your EVDO adapter should be listed, possibly as Wireless Network Connection. Right-click and select Properties. Under where it says Connect using:, your EVDO adapter device should be listed. Under the Advanced tab, check where it says Allow other network users to connect. If you want only your EVDO computer to connect and disconnect from the internet, uncheck Allow other network users to control or disable. That should setup your EVDO adapter for Internet Connection Sharing.

Once you obtain a wireless router, plug one end of its (usually) included cable to the WAN port on the router and the other end to your ethernet port on your computer. Configure your router for automatic configuration to get onto the internet (probaby will say to use DHCP, which is what you want). If everything behaves, this will form a bridge connection from the router, Internet Connection Sharing via the computer's ethernet port, then finally the EVDO adapter. Setup another computer for wireless access to the router without security for testing purposes, and see if it's able to get onto the internet. If successful, it'll be a good idea to secure your router's wireless signal via WPA, which you'll then have to configure your computers (except the EVDO one) to use WPA.

This worked for me flawlessly. The catch is that your computer with the EVDO USB adapter and the wireless router must be on for other computers in your house to connect. Until they make routers that utilize USB wireless adapters (seriously doubt that will ever happen), this is your best bet aside going to an ethernet solution for your internet service. The link below will give you reviews for wireless routers. In terms of security, select one that supports WPA or WPA2.

There are few if any at all routers that can communicate with a modem via usb. Your best bet is to get a naew modem also that has a ethernet port. Sometimes if you call your ISP they will let you upgrade to a ethernet modem.
