I am sharing a wireless internet network with 2 friends. The internet connection is usually quite fast. However, if one of my friends start to download stuff using torrents from the web, the internet connection becomes very slow, and it take several times longer to load even the Yahoo homepage. I have talked to my friend, and she doesn't know what to do too, to prevent our connection from becoming slow when she starts to download from bit torrent. Is there anything that can be done? I am not an expert at this...maybe something to make sure the all 3 computers can have the same fast speed? or something that doesn't stop her downloading, and doesn't slows our connection as well?

I have wireless internet through out my house, which I connect with on my laptop. On my PC (which is connected through a LAN cable, its hooked up to the Wireless router, and the router is hooked up to the Modem). Is it possible to share files wirelessly from my laptop to my PC? And from my PC to my laptop? I've searched everywhere and can't find a thing. All I can find is how to set up a wireless network to connect to the internet. All I need is a link.

I have Tivo service and I don't want to install a router. I have VOIP through wireless internet provider. What cable or equipment would I need to plug my tivo into something & dial up via voip? I have not seen an internet phone with an extra rj11 hook-up.

We have a wireless network setup in our house. Over the past several weeks it constantly has problems connecting or dropping. If it is running most of the time it is slower than dial up. We have Vonage phone service and they basically keep saying it is not their fault. We have a Belkin router. Can a particular computer or someone's wireless card cause the problems? Could it be someones individual computer or firewall settings causing the problem? We have one computer hooked directly to the router, one desktop has an adapter that plugs into the usb port and two laptops that have wireless cards. I would very much appeciate any help at all and any suggestions. Thanks so much!

P.S. Sometimes one computer may work but not another. For instance my husband and I can be using our laptops in our room and one will connect but one will not. Sometimes the other will not even show our network in the connections. Thanks again!

I have a 2 story house with 4 PCs and 1 laptop throughout the home all connected via wireless router. 1 PC is hardlined to the Cable modem. Frequently, the wireless connections go out, sometimes come back within minutes, other times longer. This happens to all PCs at the same time, so I don't believe it's the related to the individual PC's wireless reception. (the hardlined PC continues to work, even though the PCs connected wireless have lost their connection - so we assume its not the internet provider) I have a repeater to boost the wireless, and I've tried 3 different routers. Yet this happens almost daily. What's going on and how can I fix this?

We're a small business who is looking to purchase a new wireless router because our old one is giving us headaches. Does anyone have any recommendations? We are an Internet-based business so speed is very important, but we don't want something too expensive.

Thanks in advance.

I have two desktops and a laptop on a wireless network. Right after installing AVG software the Dell Inpiron 700M can no longer detects the wireless network. I get the message. "no wireless networks found in range - Make sure the wireless switch on your computer is on"

We have a wireless router at home for three of us and we think neighbours are connecting to our router also as we are on a fast internet but at times it suffers extreme slowdown. As in we normally get 500 kb/s downloads and they go down to as low as 30 kb/s. We download from the same server for our band all the time and always get 500 kb/s so we know when it slows down it is a problem with our router.

How do you go about securing the wireless network? We have a Sitecom Router.
