Actually you do not need the software to install a netgear router. I have one myself and NEVER used the software. You can pull up you web browser from a computer hooked up to the netgear router and install and configure it from there by typing the ip address into the address bar. The default IP address, username and password is listed on the router (I think it its 192.168.1.1, uname:admin, pwd:password) and the netgear router should come up.
Hope that helps

Routers do not require installation unless you connect to it via USB. If you are connecting with an ethernet cable or wireless then you need only to know the IP address of the router so as to access the settings page through yr browser address bar. To do this, click on Start/Run and type in cmd into the box that opens. Now type in ipconfig /all and look for 'default gateway'. This is yr router so take a note of the address. As others have said it is usually 192.168.1.0 but it may not be. My BT Home Hub has a default address of 192.168.1.254 for example. So now prefix this address with http:// and type it into yr browser address bar and the page will open.

Most routers dont need software. You can log into the routers internal page and set it up without. Most are able to log in using 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 using a browser.
however if you would like the software its located at the manufactures website
