I have no idea what could be wrong. The wireless communication switch is turned on and I tried pushing the reset button on the router but nothing is working. What could I do to fix it? thanks!

Go to Network and Internet Connections in the Control Panel and select Network Connections. Right Click on Wireless Network Connection and select Repair from the context menu.
If this doesn't work, a question for you. Is yr Wireless connection system tray icon attempting to associate all the time and not doing so? It may be that you have not entered the correct WEP or WPA password. Reconnect to yr router with an ethernet cable and go into the setting to check. Reset yr password if necessary.
If yr LAN connection is working then yr best bet is a disabled Wireless connection or incorrect encryption passkey.
:-)

If your router is like mine, resetting it is a BAD thing. It wipes all the settings off. You should have just restarted it by removing the power cord for a few seconds and start it back up.

I think you will probably need to connect to the router and set it up again.

unplug router/modem and let set for 30 seconds. turn off pc's
check that all cable are connectly correctly
plug in modem first and give it a couple of minutes to get new IP address from ISP.
then plug in router
then start pc.

sometimes reset button doesn't ...reset. removing power does!

check your firewall of any virus protection you may have, sometimes if can block it even if you have set it in the past that it was ok, sometimes it can because people are attempting to connect to the server.

unplug the router and unplug your internet box (if you have DSL). then replug them after 1 minute. (if you don't have dsl then you can scratch out the DSL part)
