Sygate firewall keeps giving popups about a wireless desktop on my internal lan constantly trying to make an incoming connection to my wireless pc that I always work on. Other then that, there is no additional detail.

There is no reason why this desktop would try and make an incoming connection and I have verified it is spyware and virus free.

How can I tell what this pc is trying to do or what it is trying to connect to or access?

Thank you

I just purchased a brand new Linksys wireless broadband router (model no. WRT54G) version 6 and I cannot connect to 192.168.1.1 in my internet browser.

The password "admin" does not work. I tried resetting router but now I feel that I made mistake when doing this. How can I fix this and get a success when logging into 192.168.1.1

Note: I haven't installed the router yet because it also ask for a password when trying to install using the software and I have no clue on what the password to complete the software is also.

My dad recently got a laptop and connected it to our wireless internet network. I don't why but I'm getting a distinct vibe that he's piggybacking what I'm doing on my computer through his laptop. Like he can see who/what I'm emailing. Is that possible, or am I just paranoid?

I have a question regarding sharing files and folders. Our company has 8 computers that are all hooked up(wired/wireless) to a linksys router.

Currently, I put all computers on the same workgroup so we can share files/folders.

So say i have a folder C:\TEMP. I right click on it and hit sharing. Then i click share files and folders, and click let others modify em.

How can i make it, so even though were part of the same workgroup, you still need the correct username/password to access my files.

Any ideas? thanks

All computers run Windows XP pro

I use the high speed every day. Some days it's fine other times
it goes along well and then doesn't allow me to surf the web it
doesn't freeze it just won't allow me to surf or send an email.
I have done everthing my server says to do and still I have
problems. When I unplug the computer and start over it works
better but I don't like to do that. What could be wrong??

Well, I have been using Opt. Online for the past 3-4 years. It has been working GREAT, but for the past few days, it has been giving me A LOT of problems. I use a cable because I am about 3 feet away from the cable modem. When I try to connect to my homepage (yahoo) I can't even do it. I would look at my connection using "My Computer" and it would say that I'm connected. Another strange problem is that it hardly works during the day , but works better during the night. Strange? Today I spent 2 hours trying to figure out the problem, and poof it just works......It takes me longer than usual to load a page though.... Does anyone have ANY clue and the problem?

Yeah... yeah... I know technology makes aspects of our lives easier and it also helps to prolong our lives but I can't help but feel like we are loosing something in the process. People are becoming more compulsive, impatient, and as a result lacking in self-control. Studies show that a greater number of people are feeling lonely each year despite our massive network and telecommunications systems setup to connect everyone. It seems as though the majority of people are forgetting how to interact with one another and would rather stare in front of a glowing tube. Where do you think all of this will lead?

If your wondering where this question is coming from, I graduated with a B.S. in Network Technologies but feel a lack of meaning while being in the field. Money and curiousity is not enough for me. I need to know that what I did while being on this planet helped people rather than destroy them in the long run.

Thanks in advance to all of you that are willing to help us that don't have a clue.

I need to know how fast my connection should be running at. I have a Linksys Wireless G router with SRX 200 and I have two PC cards for my laptops with SRX as well and they both run at 108mbps. Just a few days ago I bought one of Linksys's wicked fast "Wireless N" PCI adapters for my PC. On the box it says works fine with Wireless G routers so I got it. I finally got this thing up and running and was thoroughly disturbed when I found that the connection was running at only 54mbps. I would like to know if anyone happens to know why this loss in preformance occurs becuase I assumed that a new and faster wireless adapter would run at least as fast as the old ones. By the way, I have "excellent" connection strenght so it defintely doesn't have to do with that.

I used the content advisor but that only helps to an extent. I want them to be completely restricted. I know it sounds mean, but I have a 3 year old in the house.

I would like DSL service but I'm not sure if this is possible if I don't have a home phone #. I am trying to avoid getting a landline because I only use my cell phone as my primary phone. Is a working home phone # required or only a working phone jack?
