As others have said what you need is a router> What is a Router you ask? A router, "Routs" your connect to various computers. If you have a router you plug your dsl connection into the router and then you can usually connect up to 4 other computers via hard line connection and if the router has wireless capabilities you can allso connect wireless equiped laptops. The only draw back is the more computers you have connected, and in use at same time it will slow down your connection some.

Yeah, but you need a hub. If you are going to do it wired just buy yourself a cheap HUB. Get yourself a ethernet cable and connect the modem to the hub, and from the hub get cables connected to both computers. Or if you are going wireless, you need to buy yourself a wireless network card, considering that the other computer is a desktop as well, and you need a wireless router.
