Well, I have been using Opt. Online for the past 3-4 years. It has been working GREAT, but for the past few days, it has been giving me A LOT of problems. I use a cable because I am about 3 feet away from the cable modem. When I try to connect to my homepage (yahoo) I can't even do it. I would look at my connection using "My Computer" and it would say that I'm connected. Another strange problem is that it hardly works during the day , but works better during the night. Strange? Today I spent 2 hours trying to figure out the problem, and poof it just works......It takes me longer than usual to load a page though.... Does anyone have ANY clue and the problem?

You may try reseting your modem, and router if you use one. Unplug both items and let them power down. If you have a modem and router, power up the modem first wait a minute, then power up the router. You may have to restart your computer also if the browser doesn't go directly to the internet. With broadband ISP's change DNS addresses from time to time, when this happens the old DNS is still valid but isn't provided the same bandwidth that it once had. By restarting your modem it acquires the new DNS. If that is the case you should get your old speed back.

Are you using Pest patrol or an ad aware software, sounds like you might have to get rid of some hidden things on your computer, do a defrag, you may even want to to a chkdsk from the DOS prompt, go to run and type in cmd and hit enter then type in chkdsk /r. When your provider says you are connected and you are not, that usually means you have timed out and they have closed your connection.. Good luck

Opt. Online, though I've never heard of it, must be very popular and, since we're not nocturnal, people get on during the day, which, in turn, slows the servers for your ISP.
