I have Azureus running on my BT broadband. I have the new Home Hub. I used to be able to use Azureus perfectly but it recently has started saying that the Firewall / NAT (TCP) Reachability is not optimal and says its firewalled!! I have tried setting up the port forwarding but dont think its worked and also tried disabling the Home Hubs firewall! Help!?

The router has both ethernet and wirless PCs working off it, but I can't get the Powerbook to connect. It asks for a password, but the only thing I have is a Wep Key, which it will not take.

How can I make it so people have to type in a password to access my wireless network. I have a Linksys 2.4Ghz-802.11b router with a cable connection. I have myself directly connected as well as two other family members connecting with laptops. One is a mac. I want to make the network more secure. I've seen other networks where you need to type a password to access the internet. How can I get it so users have to type in a password to enter my network?

im looking for a peice of software which will allow me to search for wireless networks in the local area (around my house) and get detailed information on that wireless network, for an example, where exactly the network is, pin pointing. I have a wireless netgear ma101 usb adapter.

I have these possible configurations in mind specifically...
http://img122.imageshack.us/img122/4590/networkih0.png
Router 1 is a Linksys WRVS4400N and Router 2 is a WRT54G.

My question is which network is a better solution, with reguards to security and usability? And is either configuration feasable (or is ther another solution?)? I have some requirements...
[1] Linksys QuickVPN to connect to Router 1 (able to access Server 1)
[2] Need to be able to access shared files on Computer 3 as well as the printer.

Now, I know that WEP is easily cracked and I would definitely like to isolate a possibly comprimised Router 2 from my more secure Router 1 network. For this reason I thought configuration B might be the better solution? However I am not sure if Router 1 can be configured how I would like (able to connect through VPN and access Computer 3).

Well, If I can get any help or informed dialogue on this problem I would greatly appreciate it!

I get this error: \\"the name of network" is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permisions.

I'm trying to renetwork my mom's desktop computer, i.e. share files with her wireless laptop and also allow the laptop to print. the desktop is connected via ethernet to the wireless router.

I DO NOT WANT MICROSOFT! Please do not answer unless that unless you are beyond beyond sure. I was thinking either Ubuntu or Novell. What are my other options? and what is best? I just want to set up a server for a home-run business.

My mom's home network I set up for her has gone haywire. How do I set up a new home network where the desktop is connected to the linksys wireless router and her laptop is wirelessly connected. I would like the network to be on her desktop and have files share as well as the printer. The printer is connected to her desktop through usb. I have turned off the firewalls on both computers. thanks.

I had set up a shared network on my mom's computer and now it won't work. I think because she updated the norton virus software. I had the printer connected to the desktop and available for the laptop to print wirelessly. Also she was able to access her shared document folder so that when she worked on her laptop, she could save the files on the desktop main folder. How do I make this work again? I created a new network but that didn't work.

I use Verizon Online DSL and it says that the speed is 768kbps. But when I do my speed test, it's only around 710-720kpbs.
Is there anything I can do to speed it up?
Thank you :]

I'm trying to hook two computers up to the internet for a friend. There is a Compaq laptop (this computer) with Windows XP, and an old Dell Dimension L500r desktop with Windows 98 (best OS ever!) and Pentium III. I find if I plug the Compaq directly into the ethernet outlet on the RCA cable modem (model DCM315), I get internet (which is how I'm able to ask this question). I also have a Linksys EtherFast Cable/DSL Router (model BEFSR41), and would like to get internet on the Dell. When I plugged the cable into the Dell (the way I did it on the Compaq), nothing happens (the PC Link light doesn't light up). Is there a way I can plug this into the router and the cable modem to get internet on both computers? I'm doing this for community service; I tutor the kids here, but right now one of them's getting surgery, so their mother told me I could come today and work on it while they're not here, so I really want to get it right!
Thank you all so much, and have a happy new year!

We have a netgear wireless router connected to the PC, which is connected to the broadband modem. My housemate set it up (presumably following the instructions) but I couldn't access the internet when data encryption was selected. It works using an unsecure connection, but any hints on how 2 set it up properly???
