im looking for a peice of software which will allow me to search for wireless networks in the local area (around my house) and get detailed information on that wireless network, for an example, where exactly the network is, pin pointing. I have a wireless netgear ma101 usb adapter.

No silly answers please.Thanks!

NetStumbler will do some of this (Google for it).

It will tell you which networks are within range and what SSID and channel they're on.

It can't tell you where they are since your wireless card isn't directional (although you could get a rough idea by moving around and seeing what happened to the signal strength)

Windows will do that for you if you have a wireless card.. Double click the monitor icon in your system tray and then click on view wireless connections...

Windows will do that for you but you can get a 3rd party app called boingo.
