A mechanic did who did work on my car originally told me he would charge me $250 to replace blown head gasket (his parts cost & minimal labor because he was supposed to be a friend) now wants $850+ for services. I paid him $450 for services and I got my car back but now he is trying get more money. . The invoice he presented appears to have overpriced parts and double charged labor. I told him I would not pay anymore money because I feel he is overcharging me because he got mad at me. He replied that he would put a lien sale on my car and hung up on me. Can he do that??

I bought a 2000 kia sephia a couple of months ago. And I haven't been able to drive it due to me not having insurance on it, and in the state that I live in you have to have insurance before you can get plates and tags on your car. And a couple of weeks ago I turned the car on and was listening to a cd. Well I keep the cd playing and turned the car off. And then I tried to start it a couple of days ago and it wouldn't start. A friend of mine jumped it for me and turned on, but when I turned it off like thirty mintues later it wouldn't start up again. And now it's like if I get it jumped it will start but right after I turned the car off, it doesn't start back up. Any ideas on what the problem could be? Please help. Thanks!

My truck wont start.

I turn my key, I hear a distinct "click", but nothing happens.

My battery is fine, i think.

My stereo works fine, I can crank it and listen to tunes for a while.

Some people are telling me it's my starter. others are saying its a connection to my starter.

If I sit there and keep turning the key back and forth for like 20 mins, sometimes it will start,. or try to start. It'll start to turn over, but it wont catch.

sometimes, while its "trying" to start, it just stops turning over and dies, almost like it's running out of power.

This all started about 2 months ago. The not starting. but initially, I would just try like 4 or 5 times and then it would start. now it wont start.

I dont know much about trucks, or any vehicle for that matter. Can anyone give me some information about what might be wrong, and possibly a way for me to go out there and confirm what is wrong.

Thank you

My woodruff key is mangled. The depression where on the crankshaft is distorted as is the slot on the inside of the flywheel. A machinest I spoke with said I can get by without one because it is the flywheel taper and bolt that holds everything in place. The woodruff key is just for aligning the timing. That didn't sound right.

98 Toyota van,at 39K miles, the oil change showed a little to much oil in the crank case. I noticed the hose between the valve cover and the air intake snorkle was leaking oil and it puffed white smoke in the morning.

Before I took my first trip in my motorhome, I had a new battery, alternator and belts installed. Approximately an hour down the road, a belt breaks. I was towed to an RV repair shop where all three alternator belts were replaced. The next day I went on my way and after about another hour, the engine was overheating and one of the new belts broken. This time I had my RV towed home. I don't know if I should try to get it repaired again or just give up. I have put quite a lot into repairs up to now. Any ideas of what's wrong?

My mother-in-law was trying to wax her car under the sun and left it too long that it made the paint white.
I want to help her fix it, is there a way to fix?
Or should I have it paint all over?

I bought a 2003 Freelander about 5 weeks ago and have been running it mostly on bio-diesel. All was well until it decided not to start. My mechanic said bio was keeping them busy at the garage, causing problems on lots of cars. It turned out the fuel pump packed up. I have read that because it is a thicker fuel, it puts the pump under strain. I told the local Bio-diesel guy and he said 2 other people with the same car had told him of problems they had and advised me to stop going to him for the fuel. Are any of you guys a expert in this area or have you heard of problems?

I have a 1996 Ford Probe Se, and the heat didn't seem to be as warm this year and it started overheating some. First we put in a new thermostat. Then it continued and we realised we had to replace a hose. Someone else told me to get a radiator flush so no shops are open today so my b/f bought some stuff at the part store and did it himself. Still doing it. It seems to raise in temp. almost to the red and then it will drop back down. Any other suggestions?

Got clear plop mark on my car (metallic black). Polishes and waxes do not remove the clear mark that is left after cleaning. It looks like a chemical reaction. Is there anything I can do to remove the clear mark?
Heaps of ideas online…but not sure which is best/ most gentle to the paintwork
Thanks a lot!

i had just backed out of my driveway. It went in reverse fine, and went into first fine, but when i went to shift the stick freely went to second with out the clutch depressed. Then i pressed the clutch and it worked fine. Then i tried moving the shifter around and found out it only goes forward and backward. The car doesn't make and strange noises, no weird smells, nor hesitations. Last thing i fixed was a hose for the PCV valve. Which fix a hesitation problem i was having. So i was just wondering if it is just the shifter or the tranny that is the problem.

Thanks for your solutions!
