I love the smell of high octane race fuel and I was wondering why the reason why it smells that way.

I'm not sure, but everything on or in a car smells good.

Many high octane racing fuels are ethanol-based, which gives it a sweet smell when burned. Actual high-octane gasoline doesn't have this smell.

Do you mean like drag racing? Where they use Nitro-Methane. I think that is what you are refering to. Same smell model airplane fuel has .

Its more refined and less raw than low octane fuel.
