I have a 2001 chrysler town and country mini van. My engine light came on when I had a 1/2 a tank of gas. I took it to a parts store to have them find out why the engine light came on. They said I had a small gas leak that could be from the gas cap not being tight enough. They turned off my engine light with their hand held machine. I tightened the gas cap and drove till I needed to fill up with gas and then the light came back on when it got to the 1/2 way mark again. What could be causing this problem? I made sure after I filled up again that I tightened the gas cap! This did not seem to help.

ANyoe know what I can do (or have done) to eliminate these annoying sounds...I can especially hear the squeaks when I'm driving slowly. It happens every time the tires rotate and then when I hit the brakes it's real bad. Thanks!

Got the new Chevy Spark 1.0 LT. Not satisfied with the mileage. I'm getting only 12-13kmpl.
The 1st service is due this month, so will be getting new oil. Just wanna check which one would be the best engine oil for improving mileage.

I checked on synthetic Mobil 1, but its too expensive, so no point in going for such oils. The company recommends EFL (TOTAL), the other option which I was thinking about Castrol Magnatec.

I have a 2002 Jeep Liberty. I need a website where it will tell me exactly what kind of bulb I need. You know those books and machines you use in the auto parts store? Is there something online like that that I can use?

the floor of the front passenger side was real wet. THe mat on top was not. I took it in and no one can figure out where the water is coming from. I have a friend who has a GMC van that had the same problem and no one could figure out where it was coming from. I noticed it after I had the heater on the first few days it got cold, however the service people said that it was not the ac/heater lines. Anyone else had this problem and found a solution to it.

I've noticed that on every car I've driven with a manual transmission, you can upshift without the clutch as long as you aren't accelerating too hard. You can also ease from neutral into the gears at certain speeds, like 8mph for 1st, 12mph for 2nd, etc. As long as there's no grinding, is there any reason not to do this?

What about going from a gear to neutral as long as it's not while under a load (like going downhill) and you don't "pop" it out?

Also, is it harmful to make the car move forward by "pushing on 1st gear" without stepping on the clutch, but not actually letting it go into gear?

I'm thinking of buying a used 2000 Escalade. My father is trying to talk me out of it because the parts are more expensive and the repair costs and maintence are higher. Are they? My guess is not because it's a GM.

I need to rebuild the carburetor on my riding mower. Have you done one before? Is it easy? Does it come with directions? Do i need special tools? Im pretty handy. Should I just pay someone else to do it? Can i just take the carburetor in, rather than the whole mower?

It was already determined that it is oil and not old antifreeze. The mechanic said it was the head gasket. He said if it is cracked, it needs to be replaced. Wouldn't it be cracked anyway if there is oil going into the expansion tank?

I left to work overseas in 2005, but am ready to come back home and continue working as an dealership auto repair tech. I'm just worried about an upcoming recession and how that may affect the my field, as it is highly dependent on the amount of cash consumers can spend on maintaining their vehicles. If the outlook is not bright, I guess my only option is to continue working overseas.

I've had my car battery jump-started yesterday at school, because i left my headlights on for almost about 4 hours and a half. The jumpstart was successful, but i have concerns about the battery being discharge and all of that. Is it true that the charge is gone forever and the battery will weaken and i will have to replace it very soon ? What exactly happens during the jumpstart process ?

I had parked my tarus at work and when I went to leave it would not pull, neither foward or reverse. It didnt try to pull at all.It never gave me any symtoms such as slipping or not changing smoothly, and it is an automatic.I noticed a slight ''whinning'' sound comming from the front under the hood on the left.I checked transmission fluid and its ok.I had this happen to me on a older ford tarus but it was at a stop light. It seems like something broke internally versus gears wearing out.The transmission has 165,000 k on it.I guess I got expected use out of it,any advice would be appreciated.

My car has been running like a champ until two days ago. I got into it on Wed. morning and I cranked it four or five time before it started. It never did this before. I added some fuel injection cleaner, then topped off the tank. The next day the check engine light came on. It still runs great, no stauling or rough idiling. Just the damn light. I did run my tank low prior to my fill up. I generally fill it up all the way, and run it down to 1/4 tank. Any suggestions would be great. I plan on taking it in next week. I bought it last year. It has 109k and may be due for atune up.

My steering wheel vibrates under braking from 50mph +. I applied new Brembo rotors, pads, Cobra calipers, etc, but still vibrating under braking from 50 mph and above. Previously, I did hit a curb after spinning the car and damage the front end (ie. left front wheel hit curb). Had that repaired but now this steering vibration problem is appearing. I did an alignment and it shows that the camber of the left front is way negative and out of specifications. Pepboys tried to shift the OEM caster/camber plate as much as possible but still showed very bad camber.

Does the caster/camber kit from Maximum Motorsports correct this problem that the OEM plate can't ?

Has Anyone experienced this situation after hitting a curb?

How do I fix if problem is not the alignment?

Should I get the insurance company to reexamine the car and its suspension?

I got a used 91 accord last week and tried changing the bulbs of the headlights.

A few times, I went to the drivers seat to turn on the lights (without starting the car) to see if the new bulbs were working. They never did, but that's not what I'm concerned about.

I fully installed the new lights, deciding I'll just take them to the auto garage tomorrow. After putting everything back together, I tried turning on the lights. The only lights that were on were the parking lights, and they were VERY VERY dim.

I tried the brights, they didn't turn on at all. My dashboard didn't light up. I tried starting the car, and nothing happened. I didn't hear ANYTHING. The battery light on the dashboard was lit, but it was very faint.

I couldn't have had the lights on for over 10 minutes total.
What gives?
