Jiggle the steering wheel a little and at the same time try to start the car. If the wheel is in the locked position, sometimes you can't start the car. Make sure the car is in Park or Neutral on the shifter.

It may be as everyone say, I not sure.
Some keys have a Chip in them to communicate the driver to the car.
Example; My mother's car has 2 keys. Which ever is inserted the car will display "Driver #1 or Driver #2" and remembers the seat and mirror settings for each, stuff like that.
If, the key chip becomes damaged (I have seen this before) you may have to go to the dealer to reprogram the key or get a new one. They not cheap.

I'm not sure what that means, but I would consult the owner's manual. Also, try to jiggle the steering wheel a little bit and see if that gets the key to turn.

try disconnecting the battery and touching the negative and positive cable together. make sure they are both disconnected. wait 30 seconds and reconnect. turn the wheel a little bit when turning key. if this does not work i would say you have a problem in the column reading the chip on your key

that means that your steering column is locked. Just wiggle the steering wheel back and forth as u try to turn the key. If that doesn't work let me know.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! That means steering is locked! If your in a left hand drive car - just turn the steering wheel to the right a bit, it should turn a couple centimetres. Then you will be able to turn the key =]

It happens to all cars.
