The Envoy has been inthe shop 6 times in the past two weeks. A rersistor has been changed, the sytem has been recharged twice, a new program was installed. These have cost roughly $400 and know the say it is the compressor and that is going to be $1000. I find this hard to believe becuase it works great until the outside temp gets to 85, and once it drops down into the low 80's it will come back on.

I need to replace a tire on my car because it cannot be patched apparently (too close to the side wall). Tires were new in April so I do not want to buy four new ones. The tire that I buy as a replacement, is it okay to buy a similar tire as opposed to an exact match, because the tires that are on there were pretty expensive when I looked for them on the web and I would rather not spend in that range right now. If it is possible to just buy a similar tire, which specs would I definitely want to make sure were exactly the same and which ones would I have a little bit of leeway with? Thanks to anyone for their help!

I was running low on gas so i stopped to refuel and the car wouldn't come back on. We took out the spark plug and wire still connected and it wasn't getting a spark. It doesn't seem to be getting any gas either.

I recently purchased a 49cc scooter on ebay with only a pull start, no electric start. When I first tried to start the scooter, the pull start broke and the cup peice that fit inside of it. I recently got replacement parts for it and now the pull start wont rewind into itself when on the scooter. There is nothing wrong with the parts it's just the pull start won't wind up after being pulled out. If I loosen the bolts and pull this starter out, then the cord will wind up again. The engine can also start when I pull, and if I pull the starter out a little it will wind back in. Shortly after something will start clicking and then the engine will stall. The scooter is an older version of the x-treme xg505, without an electric start. This link shows what the parts for the starter look like. http://www.rabbitscooters.com/products/gscooter_parts.htm
It is the rectangular starter pawl and the first pull start I am dealing with. A little complex, but if anyone can help, thank you.

I was wondering if anyone would know a safe way to take tree sap off of my truck? I know WD 40 and lighter fluid takes it off of you hands and stuff, but not to sure its safe for the paint on my truck.... I've tried a lot of stuff from the part stores and those don't seem to work that well... Thanks!

2004 Murano with 50,000 mi. It makes a warping sound(sorta like wah, wah, wah,). The noise isn't loud when going straight and is not there when steering left, but is loudest when steering right. I thought bad rotors. Went to a mechanic and we took it for a ride. Mechanic did hear the sound. He swerved the car left then right a few times and he noticed the sound being louder when steering right. He felt that it was bad hub bearings. Back at the garage, raising the car while another mechanic sat inside. We were both under the car while the guy in the car pressed the gas with the car in Drive. The guy with me put a long screw driver against the left hub bearing wall and listened then did it to the right. He had me do the same. The sound in the left hub bearing sounded like a running faucet, while the sound on the right hub bearing was louder, also like a faucet but at full pressure. Does this all sound like a bad hub bearing? And what causes bad hub bearings?

When I start the engine after it's been cooled down for hours, the rpm reaches 1000 and stays there for about 2 minutes. It then lowers to 7000 to 8000 rpm. Is this normal for cars? It's a gasoline engine.

The fan turns on,the cap is new! The radiator must be plugged up? Could it be tha water pump...but if its that...wont it leak water some how...and it doesnt! I took out the thermostat...that wouldnt be the problem right...that just lets u know on the dash board that your car is over heating right? Can it be the timing? If its that... how would i know....would it make a noise or what? Also...theirs no water in the oil!

I'M A GIRL AND DON'T KNOW SH*T ABOUT CARS, SO I'M JUST GOING TO EXPLAIN THIS THE BEST I CAN, OKAY? DON'T MAKE FUN!

I drive a '93 Pontiac Grand Am SE (4-cylinder)

Two weeks ago, I had the heater core replaced and since, the car has ran fine. Today I was driving home (didn't have the car running for more than ten min) and I noticed a horrible burning rubber smell, which I thought could have been the car beside me, but it wasn't. I noticed the AC was making a weird hissing sound and the cold air stopped coming out. Keep in mind, the tempature guage never got even close to hot. Whenever I turned the AC off, the sound went away. I pulled up in the driveway, shut the car off, popped the hood and white smoke was coming out. The smoke was coming from that black belt that wraps around the side of the ulternator. It continued to smoke and stink 'til the belt just popped right off. My hubby looked at it & said the "tension pulley and the ulternator is fine."

So, what's wrong then?

I have an envoy the started acting up. First I left it alone for 5 min and had to jump it off. Without nothing happening before. Then the lights started flickering on the way home and anything electronic would act weird: Lights turning off and on windshield wipers going off and other wierd stuff. As soon as I turned it off it would not start again unless i jump it off. I think it is my alternator and probably now a bad battery but I want some additional advice.

I have a 1995 Firebird 5 speed manual. When I start the car and it's cold, it shifts okay, but when I drive a while, it gets harder to shift and when I wanna go on R, it makes a noise. I just wanna know what can be the problem. Sometimes there is this smell also when I drive for a while. My dad says it needs a new clutch kit. I just wanna know can something else be the problem?

I have a GMC 98 1500 Serria
(305 engine what they call a baby vortex)
the gas gauge floats, and alot of times
just drops to E and stays there, and other
times it will go all the way to F and stay
there, (and I have about a 1/2 tank of gas).
The last 2 times that the gauge started doing
this, in about 6 months the fuel pump went out.
are these actually defective fuel pumps
( happened twice now) or could there be an
electrical problem causing them to go out.
When I first bought the truck I had it 3 years
before the fuel pump went out, but now it seems
about every 6 mos the gauge starts acting as
stated above. Thank you for any assistance you
may be able to offer in this matter
