My car won't start and just makes a buzzing sound. But it does start right up when I jumpstart it.

Someone suggested that I unplug the Positive cable on the battery and if the car stalls, it's a faulty alternator. Well, it didn't stop so I guess it's not the alternator.

Since the car starts right up when jumped, it can't be the starter right?

Since the car still runs when the battery is disconnect, it can't be the alternator right?

So it has to be the battery right???????????

I was checking all my fluids earlier and noticed that my coolant was kind of low. First off, is it bad when the fluid has turned a greyish color? Some of the bottles I have say to just add some in and others say to flush it out, put water in, flush out, and then add coolant. Well, my main question is the cap says ENGINE COOLANT ONLY and most of the bottles we have say Antifreeze/Coolant. I was wondering if that's ok (not sure if that's the same thing) or if I need only a bottle called Coolant. I probably sound dumb but just want to make sure, thanks

Looking for instructions on how to convert an alternator to a small welder. I'm having trouble locating the ones I know exist. This topic was discussed in depth in one of the International Harvester forum boards, but I haven't found it yet. I can't remember which one. OldIHC.org, BinderBulletin, ???????? It's there, just can't find it again. Any help appreciated.

I just bought a used 1994 3000gt that need a clutch at a car dealership, but they said they were going to fix the clutch if i bought it. I waited a week and the car was fixed, i started it up and the car kept on dying every time i tryied to start it up in neutral, then about 9 starts later, it did not die, i put it into gear, and it died about 5 more times, i finally got it going, i drove it maybe 2 1/2 miles on a highway, (I was not riding the clutch )and it smelt liked that the clutch was burning, I pulled over right away and there was smoke coming from the clutch area, and their mechanic drove it about 200 feet to their lot. Was it maybe that they did not install it right in the first place.

Thanks

My car won't start but makes a loud continuous buzzing noise. So I got another car and jumped started it and it started right up.

I started it several times after the jump and it started right up.

An hour later, I tried to start and it wouldn't start again and made the buzzing noise again.

The battery is about 3 years old and the light on it says it's still good.

So will replacing the battery solve this problem or could it possibly be something serious like a starter or alternator?

I am aware of specific maintenance requirements & I am also required to inform new owners about these requirements.
But I am not a technician & neither are the new owners that I need to talk to.

What I need to explain (in simple terminology, no tech talk ) is this :
"Fuel-water separator should be drained monthly to avoid possible water in the fuel injectectors"

(quote copied from:2008 Ford dealer esource book, maintenance, 6.4 liter diesel)

Can/would you tell me (or describe to me) how to show or explain this maintenance to a novice or new owner ?

I,ve put my Wranglers on and my mate Paul shows up in his Mustang that he's made into a convertable himself. Because its not supposed to be a soft top, he legalised it by wielding the doors to the body and making the only way in over the top.
He had it in a friends garage from January untill this morning, perfecting what they called the perfect pearlescence paint job, ~ and it did look ζħäŧ good before I Starskyed over to my side.
It's down to the metal as they say in crome mags.

We are on a wild goose chase to get our engine light to turn off on our 99 ford escort. It wont pass the emissions test until it does....and until it does we wont be able to renew our registration.
Weve done a few repairs and maintenance things and its still on. It does however, still need a tune-up. Could this be a reason for the engine light to turn on? I feel like we're pouring money into several issues hoping to randomly find the cause of the light being on.
Im told the previous owners also had this problem.

I had an o2 sensor malfunction code a few moths ago; I cleared the code per the haynes manual and it hasn't shown up again, but could a faulty o2 sensor cause a vehicle to run hot by running too rich of fuel/ air mix? Haven't noticed a decrease in mileage. The dealer couldn't tell me what was wrong; I replaced the thermostat with a new one (and tested it) then took the thermostat right out after I had the same results. I replaced my fan clutch, flushed, checked hoses, no air pockets, no leaks in coolant system, o2 pump works, radiator questionable but throwing a new on in is my next step. The only thing the worthless dealer told me is that there's no leak in the heads. Should I replace that bad sensor or change my radiator... did a sh*tload of trouble shooting on this problem.

I have a 1996 Saturn that the transmission went out of, I decided it would not be worth fixing as it would cost me more than the car is worth, but my problem is, the day before my transmission went out, I filled my gas tank completely full. With gas prices as high as they are, I absolutely hate to get rid of this car without retrieving my gas. You cannot just siphon it, because it has one of those screens inside to prevent people from siphoning your gas. So does anyone know another way to get my gasoline out of the car before I sell it to a junk yard? We're talking about $40 or more worth of gas. Thanks for your help!
