I have a 1996 Saturn that the transmission went out of, I decided it would not be worth fixing as it would cost me more than the car is worth, but my problem is, the day before my transmission went out, I filled my gas tank completely full. With gas prices as high as they are, I absolutely hate to get rid of this car without retrieving my gas. You cannot just siphon it, because it has one of those screens inside to prevent people from siphoning your gas. So does anyone know another way to get my gasoline out of the car before I sell it to a junk yard? We're talking about $40 or more worth of gas. Thanks for your help!

for like $5 you can get a jerry can with a syphon bulb.
Your other option is to remove the tank and dump it

First, I would lift the car up and look for a drainage plug that you might be able to pull on it.

If there isn't one... Then, at your own volition, proceed with the following.

By the looks of it, your vehicle has a plastic fuel tank....

I would first take the fuel cap off of the tank and run a hose down into it to open up any back flow prevention devices that may be in it. This will also allow the pressure to release and the tank to "breath".

I would then jack the car up (lift it) on the side that the fill tube is located on. Then with A NON ELECTRIC HAND DRILL, as there are little electrical arcs inside the motor that may cause fire, or another puncturing device that is not electric, put a hole in the corner of the tank that is lifted up.

You should have a bucket or something at the ready to catch the fuel because by the sounds of it you have a full tank...matter of fact have a few ready.... Along with fire extinguisher, SHOULD anything happen. Also wear safety goggles and don't work with your mouth open...if it comes squirting out and hits you in the eyes it may do some serious damage

USE EXTREME CAUTION IN DOING THIS AS IT IS GASOLINE AND IS VERY FLAMMABLE!

Best of luck and I personally hope there is a drain plug that you can simply pull...

Disclaimer: I claim no responsibility for any damages that may occur from this endeavor as it is your decision to proceed or not.

Go to auto parts store buy a siphon pump, only costs a few bucks. It's two little hoses which have a bulb in the center, you put one end of the hose in the tank, the you put your thumb over the other end and you squeeze the bulb until gas starts coming out, then remove thumb from the end of the hose, gravity will suck out the fuel out of the tank as long as the the hose OUTSIDE the tank is LOWER than the hose inside the tank.

Beware of sparks open flames (including cigarettes), DO NOT have the motor running while doing this, have fire extinguisher handy.

An easy way (since you are selling it to a junk yard) is to find your gas line under your car and either cut it or pull it off where it connects to your motor. Having your car up on a lift would be good so the gravity will make the gas go down the tube. Fill up a gas can and there the gas is gone from one car to another. Another way is to drill a hole in your gas tank (usually under your car) and let it drain into something.

Here is what to do , Lower your tank down just far enough to get your hand in there remove sending unit or out far enough to get a hose in there and siphon as much as you can. Remember the gas neck has a stop in the bottom good luck hope this helps.

Your car was built after 1991. All cars after 1991 are built with an anti-syphoning device. The only way to get the gas out would be to take out the gas tank and flip it upside down, OR drill a hole at the bottom and pour it into a bucket.

Open the trunk and remove the carpet or look under the spare tire there should be an opening for the gas tank, you will need to remove it, then you can siphon the gas that way

There is no easy way to do it aside from putting it up on a lift and draining the tank which will cost more that the gas inside

The easiest way would be at the engine at some point there is a fuel inlet line to the injectors, take your fuel cap off to let all the pressure out then take the line off at the inlet of and careful because there may be little pressure. Have a longer wider hose that will fit over that inlet line and slide it over, turn your ignition on and the fuel should start rushing out. Please make sure your not smoking..

I would cut the fuel line and turn the ignition key to the "ON" position. Run the fuel line to a plastic canister. The electric pump from the car will pump fuel from your gas tank to the plastic canister. You need to be a little bit mechanically inclined in order to perform this task.
