Clay bar is excellent for removing surface contaminants from the paint but will do nothing to remove scratches, if the scratches are not too deep you can use a polishing compound or a dedicated scratch remover, be careful though even when using mild polishing compounds, clean microfiber or all cotton towels only, do a small area at a time, after you are done apply a good polymer wax.
If you are unsure what to do, fess up to your dad and have him take the car to a detail shop, they should be able to deal with it.

Naw... You'll be fine.. just get it polished out. Sinister and JCR are right... and Shelcom is just bein a dick!
Some of the automotive paint supply stores have some good products like Tetrosyl T-Cut http://www.tetrosyl.com/index.cfm?page=64 for polishing out scratches... Stay away from the edges and just polish the flat surfaces.

They will unless you do something about it. Try buying a good cleaner wax suitable for clear coat finishes. If that doesn't do it, then try the clay bar. Follow the instructions on the package and hopefully it will remove the scratches. good luck.

Nice job, genius. Yes, the scratches will stay forever. What, do you think the scratch fairy will come one night and magically make them disappear? I really hope you're not old enought to drive.

you may be able to get them out with a clay bar or wax and polish, not if they're too deep though.
