I let my brother wash my car about two days ago and now when i look at it, there are little scratches or swirls in the paint....i think he used the hard side of those sponges you use to wash dishes. How can i get them out? My moms like super mad.

Wash again with a car sponge and car soap. Afterwards try a good wax and make sure to buff it out good with a little elbow grease. Seeing you are 16, I'm not going to go in detail with other things as I'm not sure if you have access to a porta cable.

If that doesn't work, just try swill removing polishers along with a coat of wax. Be EXTREMELY careful with what you dry the car with, try to avoid home towels, etc. Buy terry cloth towels and car specified towels for the auto store.

If the scratches can't be felt or are not a different color than the car, (meaning through the color layer) they can be removed. You will need a mild to heavy buffing compound. MAKE SURE IT'S A BUFFING COMPOUND! Polishes are for after buffing and do not remove scratches. If you don't have a buffer, you can rub them out by hand with a terry cloth. But be prepared for arm fatigue. Buffers can be purchased or rented fairly cheap. Use a foam pad as this will be less abrasive with the paint. After the scratches are gone, wax the area and done. Also, run the buffer no higher than 1200 to 1500 R.P.M.s. Especially on rounded surfaces like bumpers. If the buffer doesn't have an R.P.M rating, it should have a numbered dial 1-5. Don't go beyond three.

Go to an auto parts store and ask them what they have to remove swirl marks from the paint. A cleaner polish that is suitable for clear coat paint may do the job.

After trying that, if you still have the swirls, then back to the auto store and this time try a clay bar, and follow the instructions. Ask a friend from school if they have any experience doing this, they can give you some pointers. good luck.

Mothers products makes a liquid scratch remover part # 08408 I used it before and it works really well. You put it on just like you are waxing the car. Then when you are done...wax the car. Go to www.mothers.com and click on California gold paint care to see the bottle and product description. Your local parts store should have it. tell Mom to chill.
