I took it to auto zone for the free reading and was given a code 0128. They think it maybe the thermostat or the coolant temperture sensor. The car is not over heating and it drives fine. Does anyone have any knowlegde on this problem or where the sensor maybe located? Thanks

Hello everyone, I have a 2000 Pontiac Firebird. I Love this car, it is BEAUTIFUL, a head turner, and it is a good quality car but there are so many little minor problems I do not know if I should fix them or just trade it in.

First off, the previous person did not take good care of it and I am feeling the effects.

Problems include, an annoying squeaking sound from the right rear every time I touch the brakes, the right turn signal doesn't blink, it stays on, but you don't hear the "tick tick tick" like it should, the window is out of line, it won't roll up by itself, the motor still works though.

I am thinking about putting a lowering kit on it, replacing the rear shocks, break rotors, new chrome tail pipes, doing the interior black, and new seats in black.

I would just hate to invest a ton of money and then end up having a major problem down the road.

It is a 2000 Pontiac Firebird with 80000 miles on it and I bought it for 6600.

Advice would be nice.

When I roll my driver or passenger windows down they are sticking. It is worse on the drivers side where sometimes it will actually get stuck and wont go down unless I get something thin and run it along the rubber near the top of the door and window. I tried cleaning the window and the rubber part and that works fine for a little while then it starts to stick again. I have brought my car to the dealer and all they said that it is tree sap and that I should clean it but I do clean it and it keeps coming back and for some reason out of 3 cars this is the only one that is having this problem so I really doubt it is tree sap. Anyone one know how to remove what ever is causing the window to stick?

I have a 1997 Dodge ram 1500. When I turn left or right I am getting a Pretty bad squeak coming from the tires (or at least it sounds like it is coming from there). I am not sure what this could be, is it wheel bearings or something else?

It did it yesterday morning as well, which is the first time ever it has happened. But on the 2nd try it started just fine. I drove it to work, turned it off and restarted it and it started immediately like it always does. Worked all day, and it started first try when I left yesterday afternoon very quickly. This morning, it just constantly rolls over and will not start. The truck is a 97 Chevy S-10 4.3 V6. Battery and alternator appear to be fine as well. Any clue what might be wrong?

My mechanic told me the reason my car wouldn't start was the alternator. He fixed it and charged me $300 (+tax+ $60 for towing)

Did I get a fair price?

I was driving on the highway with cruise control when my engine just shut off. There were no funny noises or smoke. I did try quite a few times to start the car before I knew it was the timing belt. My main concern is if it is likely to have bent the valves or damaged the head. This is a 2.0 4-Cylinder Chrysler 420A engine (non-turbo), auto trans.

I just changed out my ATF. I know my car has a capacity of 6.2 liters, but only 4 liters could go back in. It is possible that not all 6.2 liters drained out because I did not measure the old ATF coming out.

So I want to know if driving with insufficient ATF could cause any problems.

I also read that overfilling ATF is really bad. So I don't want to force more ATF in (by parking on an incline to fill up). Instead, if there're no negative side effects of having insufficient ATF, I'd rather wait and see.

If performance chips are so good, adding Horsepower and gas mileage, why don't they come standard with all cars? They can be bought for under $20, so obviously they wouldn't add much to the price of a car. Is there a downside to them that the performance chip sellers aren't mentioning?
