Sometimes junk will build up in the fuel passages of the carb after it sits for a while. One way to remedy this situation is to rev the motor up a little (3000 or so) and close the choke manually. This will cause the engine to suck a bunch of fuel through the carb and will sometimes clean it out enough to fix the problem. Only hold the choke closed for a few seconds so that you don't flood the motor, and make sure to rev it up a little to clean out the combustion chambers after you are done.

Check the fuel pressure at the carburetor. There should be a minimum of 6 lbs. pressure. Field strip the carburetor to find if the power valves are leaking between the main metering blocks and main body. There are two metering blocks one in the front and another facing the distributor. If either of the power valves have a ruptured diaphragm replace with a new one of the same vacuum value. The number is stamped on the hex side of the power valve. For instance it may have the numbers 5.5, 6, 6.5, 7, 7.5, 8. 8.5 and so on. These numbers signify the exact inches of mercury that the valves open.

As you already know as the throttle opens under load the vacuum drops inside the intake manifold. As the vacuum drops to any of the specified numbers above the power valve diaphragm opens allowing an added amount of fuel to be eventually pulled through the fuel distribution rings in the throat of the carb.

put new gas in it and you might need a new fuel pump too but I think the real problem is the carb, if you can keep it running get a can of spray gumout and spray inside the carb real good while running and keep the rpm's up and keep spraying a few more times and see if that helps, also the rubber pump plunger in the carb could be all dried out and cracked causing the problem.
