I just recently replaced the engine in my f-150, and I have a sneeky suspicion that the mechanic rebuilt my motor and charged me for a new one. He said my motor was bad, and that I need a new one, so I paid for the new one plus the additional charges because the core was bad. Is there any way I can tell by the engine ID number if the new motor is actually the old motor, but just rebuilt? Thx in advance.

its got a new map sensor, and ive installed 2 junkyard EGR valves. It idles fairly smooth, but usually too high (1000-1200 rpm). put it in gear idle drops to normal 600-800 rpm. push the pedal on the right it sputters and dies instantly. 3.1 L V-6. 230,000 miles.

To rephrase, if I run my car's heater (It's a 1991 Geo Metro for reference) will that in turn dissapate any of the heat in either the block or the radiator. This is a purely hypothetical question.

I have an 86 Camaro that I swapped out the stock 305 with a 350 rebuilt with a choppy idleing camshaft. But everything else on the car is stock, the tranny is stock as well. I set the idel on the carburetor around 1,000 rpm it is an edelbrock 1406 model 600cfm.
When I put the car in drive and go especially from a complete stop it doesnt die but it keeps bogging out and it doesn't shift properly when it should. i.e.: I have to let off the gas so it can shift.
Any suggestions?

The engine cuts off but usually all you have to is put it in park and turn the ignition and it'll usually start. I've replaced the spark plug wires and battery recently. I'm pretty sure it's not the fuel pump because it doesn't sputter when it cuts off. I'm kind of thinking it might be the ignition coil because the lights in the car stay on when it cuts off.
