I had the same problem. I tried cardboard, glue, strings to hold the mirror to dry, etc. What a joke!

I've seen several correct answers in the post. Simply goto your local Auto Zone, Napa, O'Rielly's or any auto supply store. They make a kit specifically for this that runs under $15.00.

It is easily worth the price, ends all the hassles and actually works!

Go to the Dealership and ask the parts guy for the right cement. The auto stores don't always have it. The cheap Taiwanese aftermarket stuff is lame.

Go to any auto parts store (I have even seen them in grocery stores) and get the kit. All it really is super glue.

THE BEST THING TO USE IS THE QUICK DRYING JB WELD.

CLEAN GLASS AND METAL PLATE FROM MIRROR, MIX THE 2 COMPOUNDS TOGETHER, TAPE METAL PLATE INTO PLACE AND LET DRY FOR 24 HOURS AND REINSTALL MIRROR ASSEMBLY.

THE MIRROR WILL NEVER FALL OFF AGAIN.....
