I have a 2000 dodge neon. The car sputters after about ten miles of driving. Give it gas and nothing. I pull over and put it in park and engine revs right up. Put it in drive, acts like it is starving for gas....makes no sense.

I replaced the ABS Speed Sensor on the rear end. I also have new brakes; so I know its not them. I unhooked the batteries; still stays on. The light comes on; goes off briefly and comes back on and stays on. Would a OBDII code reader diagnoze the problem

The Battery is brand new (replaced yesterday after problem started) and the alternator tests good. The voltage meter on the dash reads low and the battery (charging system) light is on. The truck is running strong without dogging down with all accessories on for 30 minutes. Ideas?

Heres the story of an idiot and car...

I needed to buy a car asap and for cheap. Through a friend I found a 92 probe (130,000 miles) and bought it for 650 after a friend of mine (who i THOUGHT knew about cars said it wasn't a bad deal)

Within days of driving it I find that it needs a new fuel filter (fix about 400-450) and it needs 4 new tires. That is all i KNOW that is wrong with it. Right now it sits in my apartment parking lot needing that work plus an oil change. I am very broke right now and won't have the money to fix it for awhile.

Should I
a. try to sell it for ANY amount as is
b. fix it, its a good car in the end and worth it
c. donate it and learn my lesson
d. some other option I don't know about

If your answer is get rid of it can you offer any advice on someone with little money and NO car knowledge buying a used car (even a good place to look for one).

Thanks

in my quest for knowledge and a BS degree I sadly forgot to learn about cars...

When i turn sharp, like backing out of a parking spot or pulling in it kinda makes a grinding like noise, and shudders a little.. What could that be? It runs perfectly fine otherwise..

I was hoping someone could give me a VERY detailed, step by step for changing the oil on my car, a 92 Probe.

I know nothing of cars (what oil to buy, what tools are needed, what to look for under the car, etc...) but because of various issues I must do it myself. If you could help, thanks a ton.

We have a 2001 Toyota Corolla. Somehow the oil leaked out of the motor on a winter night in the middle of nowhere and we had to drive and force the engine to run until we found shelter. Now that it's Spring I'm ready to rebuild it, but was looking for what to expect in repairs. Any ideas or suggestions? What damages occur due to lack of oil? It's not seized the engine will try to fire and almost run.

I just installed a cold air intake in my 07 ford focus ST and i was wondering if i should disconnect the battery to reset the mass air flow sensor. i'm thinking with the increase in air flow might be tough for the MAF to recognize without being reset. is it worth doing?

on my 2003 dodge caravan. It just came on yesterday. Does anyone know what this means? My brakes are working fine and I had them fixed on last year sometime at Sears. Should I go back to Sears or should I go to where I purchased my van from? I've had the van for almost 3yrs. and it has about 120,000 something miles on it. Anyone know what this could be?

Update: I took my car in to Sears today and they did a brake evaluation. They said nothing was wrong with my brakes and they think it may be a electrical problem because my ABS light is on and I don't even have anti-lock brakes. They told me to take it to the dealership and have them take a look at it.

What do you guys think? Oh and Monday I am going to take it to Auto Zone and have them scan it to see if any codes show up.
