i changed my girlfriends front brake pads and rotors on a 98 grand am, i also bled them. But we don't think her brakes are really any better and she doesn't have a "full brake pedal" either? What else would prevent her brakes from working really well? thank you

My '94 Isuzu trooper has started sounding a little bit like a diesel when I turned it on. It is also very loud and makes a weird noise everytime I press on the accelerator. Also, when I turn my car off and get out, I can smell a lot of carbon dioxide. Is this a muffler problem or something else?

Last year my power steering gearbox was leaking from the shaft seal on the bottom. So, I removed the gearbox and put in a new seal and reinstalled. Now, I have no power steering.
Although, I don't have a pressure tester for the pump, it seems to be pumping great. I opened the pressure hose and it is pouring out. And if I disconnect the return hose it pours out great. So, I believe the pump is good.
I jacked up the car, started the engine and turned the wheel lock to lock 50x or more with and with out the engine running. The wheel will turn by itself to the right when the engine is running and jacked up. But, it's still hard to turn to the right with the wheels on the ground even though it is easier to.
I don't know what to do now. There is no bleeder valve anywhere. The car is a 59 Plymouth Fury. Anyone with experience or knowledge of this?
Thanks

This is really bothering me! I have an '01 Celica GT-S and I replaced my old tires because of what I thought was road noise from the tires. At 55+ MPH the noise is almost unbearable. When I change lanes to the left, the noise goes away until I begin to track straight ahead... and when I change lanes right it becomes excessively loud again and slightly deadens when I track straight. I recently installed some BFGoodrich G-Force Sport tires thinking that the problem was my old and worn Yokohama AVS ES100's to no avail. The noise still remains (but is not as bad)... The tires balance is perfect, and my car doesn't pull to the left or right. What is the deal? Do I need an alignment? I hate to say it but I haven't had an alignment since '03. Help!

Hi, I have a question about cars that have an "immobilizer" that is disengaged by keys embedded with a certain microchip, & getting a remote start (i.e., Viper 5900).

Specifically, I have a 2001 Volvo, and my keys are embedded with this chip that will disengage the immobilizer. Without this chip, you can't start the car - so it prevents hotwiring.

I recently started looking into getting a remote start, and was told that one key (I assume the chip from the key) will be placed under the dashboard, since that would be the only way the remote start would work; the car would think the key with chip was present, hence allowing the car to start.

My worry is: doesn't that seriously increase the chances of somene hotwiring my car, since the chip is always there - creating permanent immobilizer disengagement? And so doesn't that seriously increase the risk associated with getting a remote start?

Thanks very much!!

I need to find a match for my car colour so that the touch-up looks ok. (I've done research in how to do the repair)

It's a 2003 VW Golf and I've got all the original documents/log book.

In the log/service book it says it should be on page3... but the only number there is a long VIN (vehicle identification number).

Thanks if you can give me answer. :)

I called a local Infiniti dealer (I didn't purchase the car at this dealer) and was told that the service would cost $275 and the new part would cost $850 [total= $1125]. I then found a shop that replaces glass in cars and they told me my windshield replacement, with the part and service included will cost $140 total. I don't know whether I should get my windshield replaced there for 2 reasons: 1) They might do a poor job and not glue it on properly, or well enough, so that it might start coming apart from the frame of the car in several months, and 2) rain may leak through (because they are doing it for a lot less that Infiniti, I expect the result to be a lot worse).

Am I right correct in my assumptions? Should I get my windshield replaced with the generic place or should I take my car to an official Infiniti dealer? Can I trust the generic shop to do a good job on my car? Any help would be appreciated greatly. Thank you.

Hi there i have a FWD car, it has 4 factory 205/75R14 tires on right now and one of them just went. A buddy has two 205/70R14's that he's willing to give me. The tread patterns i believe are different. What would the effects of mixing the two different tire types on my car be? If it's do-able, which pair would be best in the back and which in the front? Why? Thanks alot.

It feels like the fuel injector is dirty, and I've put cleaner in for the past 2 tanks, but while it helps for the first 30 or so miles, my car gets just as bad if not worse than before. Anyone have any suggestions to try before I take it to the shop?

My ses light had been coming on for about the last year. Every time I would have it diagnosed, the catalytic converter and oxygen sensors would come up. I have had them both changed three times. I went to Autozone and had them erase the trouble code. The light went off, but then came back on the same day. It then went off again the next day. The light had been off ever since until I got my oil changed yesterday. It came on during my ride home. What could the problem be, and how could I reset the light?

The overheat dial is not going up, so I don't think it is radiator related. My fluids all seem to be full. Have you ever heard of something like this?
