its a 97 nissan pick up

looks like they would have to take off 3 belts to get to it ,,,,,and the fan

It would help if you could provide the year, make, and model of the vehicle you are inquiring about. The price can vary WIDELY depending on the vehicle.

Edit: On a '97 Nissan pickup, assuming you have the 3.0L SOHC V6 engine, you're looking at about anywhere between 4 to 6 hours labour, plus the cost of the parts. You may as well replace the timing belt as well as the other belts, since they all need to be removed for access to the water pump on this particular vehicle. Hope this helps.

It depends on a vehicle. If it's a front wheel drive with timing belt, most likely the pump is timing belt driven, and is located behind the timing cover. In this case, replacement is associated with other things - usually the belt itself, pulley, tensioner, etc. This is the most expensive setup - expect to pay $500.unless you go to a dealer who would easily charge $700. On a rear wheel drive vehicles, the pump is usually external, and replacement is much easier - you should be able to stay within $250-300.
