The overheat dial is not going up, so I don't think it is radiator related. My fluids all seem to be full. Have you ever heard of something like this?

go check the cooling system. some of these older Pontiacs have problems with the intake manifold gaskets and cause them to leak coolant. lets hope it isnt that because it will be a hefty price to repair.

I am not quite sure what you mean by "smelling heat". If you smell antifreeze, then you may have a small leak someplace, likely a hose, but that doesn't cause a shimmy. Normally what you describe is caused by wheels, tires, or brakes. If you could elaborate on exactly what is happening and what you "smell", I can revise my answer for you. Let me know.

pop off you're brake master cylinder cap see if the rubber gasket on the lid is distorted if it is your fluid is contaminated this will cause this you will need to change a lot of the hydraulic system in the brake aria the shimmy and smell is coming from the brakes heating up

better get your brakes checked. it sounds like you may have some brakes dragging. after they get hot it will cause a shimmy or shuttering feeling and it will stink.

not need to be overheating ,vapor at 180 degrees(normal running temp.) is hot enough.
leaking somewhere

my wild guess........radiator cap loose. and low coolant level.
