I know exactly why it's on, but I don't need to deal with it right now. Can I turn it off or does it require some sort of a machine that only a mechanic has?

i have a 1992 dodge spirit and ive been having all kinds of problems with it. it will start but idles very rough.. when i put it in gear it bucks and jumps. it will drive down the road but has no power what so ever. when i brake for a turn or a light... it usually dies...
ive changed the air filter, gas filter, new wires, plugs, cap, rotor, and hall effect switch and no changes. also changed the coolant temperature sensor.
now when i disconnect the map sensor the car will die and not start.. hook it up and it starts. when i disconnect the o2 sensor, there is no change in anything. im at about 200.00 in investing parts in this car that has yet to show improvement.
my final conclusions on this are.. a plugged converter, map sensor, o2 sensor, car has jumped time, or lost compression... any ideas or suggestions?
thanks in advance dave..

Hi, Ok so I'm coming back from my sister's house and my 1994 Aerostar van starts to overheat. Then it starts to loose power and then it died. So I blew the darn head gasket. Replaced all the gaskets and got the darn thing put back together and wouldn't ya know it, it won't start. =:( Just my luck. It turns over but won't start. Anyone with any ideas? Please help. Came to far to give up now. Thanks everyone.

I have tried 2 different hoses with the same result. This is the first time I am using it since last fall. My house is only 2 years old. It has a little plastic cap on top that I can't seem to remove. I think the water is spewing from there, though it may be from around the handle.

What are the parts do people usually change along with the timing belt? I know of the tensioner, tensioner spring, idler pulley, and tensioner pulley plus water pump. What else should be changed? My car is making a a lound weird low noise when the car is driven on small roads. So does anybody know what parts I should change along with the timing belt? ALso, what else do you guys change when changing a timing belt?

Have an excellent condition '98 Ford Explorer with 206,000 miles. Compression and everything still excellent, not burning any oil, good mileage. Should I switch to a synthetic oil to extend engine life, or will regular do as well?

I have a 93 Pontiac Bonneville SSE, and for some reason while driving the car, the temperture, battery and the oil gage will just start going haywire. Also the features that goes withmy car will come on as well. It doesn't happen all the time while driving, but I am just wondering why those gages bounce from the left to the right like that? have anyone else had these problems? Someone told me that it could have been because I had bad gas in my car. I am not sure. Please help.

Two days ago, I had my brake pads & rotors replaced. Then, that night, I noticed a burning smell after I got home from work. Today, I noticed a heavy plume of smoke coming from my tire. Since my car did not do this prior to my brake job, I have to assume it's my brake. What's happening?

All gauges in my instrument panel have gone dead on me 3 times already. At first I thought I just might need some new fuses or a speedometer sensor because that is when I noticed the problem first (I was traveling and speedometer stayed on 0). Talked to a mechanic and he said the cluster bundle might be the problem but also quoted me a $500 price tag on them. Any help is appreciated on this one!

Car was running (and starting fine) a couple of hours before it wouldn't! Nissan '00 Altima. There is a flurry of electrical activity (but nothing works good) when I try to turn it on, including my CD being spat out, my windows will slowly come down but not up, and electrical noise near the fuse box under the steering wheel. Battery is fine, and so are fuses (all checked, including the starter). If I engage the lights, the electrical noise isn't there but lights aren't on. Anyone have a clue here??
