This is a follow up on my last thread, here's a recap. My car was vibrating a bit at high speeds and shuddering quite a bit when I was braking (noticeable past 60km/hr). The garage has let me know that my wheels need to be rebalanced and my front rotors re-surfaced although both of these were fine before my accident. Could my rotors have warped from not being used for 3 weeks? They have suggested this may be the cause and in my opinion this is accident related as I would've been driving it everyday if not for the accident so the rotors wouldn't have warped! Does anyone think I have an argument for the insurance company to pay for this?

So here's how it happened: I drove to a friend's last night & it was the first time in several months that I'd driven my car faster than some 45 mph. As I slowed towards the median to make a left turn, my car stalled (thankfully in the turn lane, not the traffic lane!). So I turned it all the way off, restarted it, but as soon as I shifted to 'drive', it stalled again. It did this a few times, and I stopped trying for a few minutes, then tried again & I was able to shift to 'drive' (and clear the intersection!) with no more trouble. My car got to rest awhile before I went out again, & either stalled or came very close to stalling as I slowed down for stoplights & such; the times that it came close to stalling but didn't, it would run very rough & kind of sputter & vibrate quite a bit until I either came to a full stop or accelerated to a running speed again.

My truck stalls out on me when its been sitting for more than a couple hours, and it always starts back up, then i drive for a couple seconds and it does it a couple more times for the first 30 seconds of driving. I got a tune up, changed the egnition coils, and the mechanic can't find the problem. (dodge dakota 98 V6 magnum) Any suggestions

I have a 95 neon. The problem started when I crossed the jumper cables in the dark when charging my discharged battery. None of the relays or fuses seem to have blown. I want to know if this wire is simply a plug or if i have to have it rewired.

I had them changed around 2 and half weeks ago as they were very worn down. Does it take a while for the new brakes to adjust or is the squeeking down to the fact they were poorly fitted?

The timing belt on my Accord (manual trans) needs to be changed. I know a guy who has a shop who could do it, but my mechanic said it's dangerous due to an interferance fit - the valves and pistons hitting. Can someone explain this? Someone else said it's not that complicated.

We just paid $800 for a wheel alignment, suspension, and a few other little things, new water pump and fan. But now the car shakes when we go over 50 on the driver side, we took it back to the mechanic who tried to say it's this and that, (trying to get more money). We weren't about to dish out more, so he tried a little 'test' switch the front and the back tire (on the driver's side) his test failed because it's still shaking. Is it the wheel alignment job he did?

Well a mechanic told me my relay was going bad or their is a shortage.....My truck wouldnt start, lights worked, battery was fine,he checked it and said the starter was fine, there is a shortage in the relay.Which he pointed out to me its on the passenger hand side near the battery. So I went to autozone asked for a relay and they handed me a starter solenoid...Is this the same piece needed and does it sound correct that the relay is bad? What should I do//

I'm having a new cat. converter, oil change, etc. done to my Corolla at a independently owned, 3 mechanic repair shop. This is the first time I have dealt with this shop. The owner has been in business at this location 20 years.
This is the first time I have had work done at this shop, and don't personally know the owner.
Should I pay with credit card to help be protected from possibility of rip off repairs? I have plenty of money in my checking account, so I could easily write a personal check. The total bill is $ 390.00 U. S. dollars.

My passenger side front wheel bangs like something has broken when i steer around corners or roundabouts. I have a vauxhall corsa. It does not happen all the time. It sounds like a steering axle? I have had a new steering column 1 year ago. Despite a clicking noise when i still turn sometimes. Anybody know what could be the problem...should i get rid?

I have Honda Civic 2005 sedan. It's 1.5 year old and has 48K Km on it (30K miles) . In my scheduled maintenance yesterday, the mechanic told me the tranmission fluid is dirty and need to be replaced even though the manual says under serve driving, the transmission fuild should be replaced every 96K km (60K miles) or every 3 years.

Why is it getting dirty so quickly? The only reason I can think of is how I shift to neutrual. Occasionally I shift my gear to neutral when coming to full stop at stop lights (to reduce the stress on my back having to press the brake ).

I also do that once a while when driving downhill on highway (and move back to D when I reach the bottom... I do feel the transition is not smooth... the car slow down a bit as transmission is re-engaged). Rarely I also shift to N when I have to slow down quickly.

Am I killing my automatic tranmission by shifting in and out of N like this? Is there any other reasons why it is dirty so quickly?

I've recently had my head gasket replaced - since then my engine sounds very loud (almost as though i need to change gear constantly - even though i'm in the right gear). Also when i get stuck in traffic my temp gauge increases very quickly but when i start driving again it cools down again.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Since having the head gasket done - I have found out that the mechanic is a bit of a dodgy character and i'm concerned the job hasn't been completed properly.

2000 Saturn LS2. Tail lights work fine when headlights are off, so the bulbs are OK. Tail lights work fine when headlights are on, too, except for when I step on the brake. At that point, the tail lights go off, instead of getting brighter. The middle rear-view window brake light works fine.

How can I fix this?
