So here's how it happened: I drove to a friend's last night & it was the first time in several months that I'd driven my car faster than some 45 mph. As I slowed towards the median to make a left turn, my car stalled (thankfully in the turn lane, not the traffic lane!). So I turned it all the way off, restarted it, but as soon as I shifted to 'drive', it stalled again. It did this a few times, and I stopped trying for a few minutes, then tried again & I was able to shift to 'drive' (and clear the intersection!) with no more trouble. My car got to rest awhile before I went out again, & either stalled or came very close to stalling as I slowed down for stoplights & such; the times that it came close to stalling but didn't, it would run very rough & kind of sputter & vibrate quite a bit until I either came to a full stop or accelerated to a running speed again.

This morning I had no trouble because I drove no more than 35mph (with my flashers on!) & I began to decrease my speed WELL before reaching the intersection--it seems to give the most trouble when I decrease speed too quickly.

it is either the IAC (idle air control) sticking or a bad EGR both are very easy to test for a qualified mechanic.

This could be the result of a number of things. Most of them minor that a regular tune-up would fix. Like clogged air filter, improper idle, timing, etc. It could also be that you got ahold of some bad gas or the fuel lines have become clogged. If you have room to put more gas in your tank, fill er up but someplace different than where you bought your last gas.

Your idling speed might be set too low or something has come off that has resulted in the drop in idling speed of the engine. You might to get it looked at and probably adjusted.
