I am looking at a Honda Prelude with 80,000 miles. It is in excellent condition, 4-cylinder, 5-speed, and has other extras such as alloy wheels and premium sound. It's listed at $8900. Before I buy it, I am going to have my mechanic check it out. Does this sound like a good price to you, or could I talk the dealer down a little?

The idea is colder air is denser > More O2 > More power. That will obviously make more emissions, but does it hurt your MPG?
Warm air intakes do the opposite to "improve fuel efficiency" according to wikipedia.
Anyone got data?

Seems like changing some pipes wouldnt really do anything? I have an 02 S2000, and I purchased DC sports 4-2-1 Ceramic 1 piece header, a Berk Technology Delete pipe, and Skunk2 cat back dual exhaust, and really its just very loud. Im not really feeling Power gain.. I paid about $1,100 for all this, really I dont feel anything, it just sounds like an Indy car or somethin.

I have read that while lots of carb's look cool that a single 4-BBL is all i really need

I want to put 3-2bbl 's on my 427 but should I just keep the single 4 bbl it already has? I understand that the draw from the cam limits the amount of air pulled into the motor... so 800CFM is 800 CFM...? right? If the motor can only pull this amount then what is the point of adding more carbs?.... and no I'm not changing the cam... I want to be able to drive the car on the street

I've had both front wheel bearing replaced, a bushing put in where the axle meets the tranny to tighten the axle. Now I've still got a rattle especially when on a bumpy road. It sounds like something is loose and rattling around. Also a "popping" noise on straight, flat blacktop when the car is cold in the mornings. A few pops at a time.... Any ideas???

my 1996 ford ranger is making a very loud noise every so often. The noise only seems to happen when I am not pushing the gas. It is very loud, I can hear it inside the car and outside. It is obviously coming from the front of the truck. I recently had the truck taken to a mechanic for a diffrent issue, and they did not say anything about a noise when they were running a diagnostics of the car. I think this may be because the truck doesnt make the noise when the gas is being pressed. If anyone has any idea about what this noise may be, or a possible fix for the problem is please help me out.

Another Question:

The belt behind the fan in the engine is also very whiney. If I spray it with belt dressing it seems to stop whining for a while but does start up again. Is there any other way to correct this?

Thanks for your help.

My mom was coming home from work & a deer ran into her truck. She got an estimate from her insurance comp yesterday for $555. They wrote out a check to her & the finance company where her loan is. They said they done this because they are the lien holder. How does all this work? My father in law will probably fix it. Does he need to do an estimate also? What if the damages are more than $555? Will the finance company keep the check or send it to the body shop?

A week ago I took my car to Jiffy Lube to get my car inspected and oil changed. Would my car overheat and create smoke from something that went wrong when they changed my oil or is it just a normal wear and tear of my car?

I am guessing the problem is in the alternator/regulator. From back in the day when I did a lot of work on my cars, I recall that the way to test it was to check the voltage across the battery with the engine running. If it shows less than about 14 volts (a bit lower with a drain like the headlights) then it's the alternator. Is that correct?

In the old days, I'd have replaced the regulator, but it is my understanding that now you have to replace the whole alternator. And it used to be a pretty easy job to change the alternator - is that still true? Thanks!

Can anyone suggest whats wrong?
When I was accelarating and braking I kept getting quite a bad shudder in the wheel and peddles and I found out that my tracking was out by quite a bit on my car. I had to buy new front tyres and I also needed new brakes so I got them fitted at the same time (discs and pads).
A week later I have found that whilst my accelaration and braking shudder has reduced dramatically, I can now hear a squeaking in my front brakes when I brake. Its not a constant sound, its rotational - if you know what I mean!

Does anyone have any ideas??

I have a Ford Probe 1994. The engine was overheating and I discovered that I had to put 1.3 gallon of radiator coolant. Now, it's normal. But is there something wrong ? I don't know why so much radiator coolant was missing.

2003 Corolla...the first couple times that I brake during my drive, my brakes will squeal. After the first couple times, it goes away and the brakes are fine.

Any idea what this could be? The brake pads were replaced about a month ago.

This car was bought brand new in 2005 for my birthday, from my dad. The car is fine but the past two years the car has been acting up. I don't drive that much, just errands, school, mall, beach, I don't drive long distances..OK well lately when I try to start my car ( i put the key in the ignition) it would usely get stuck. Yes stuck like I can't turn it...I would need to force it a few times just to get my car to start. When this happens ( the key won't turn) my steering wheel would be frozen....like it won't move.....the what really weird is exactly at 10:00 p.m. my car alarm would alarm....reallly loud...I don't know what to do with it. I change the oil on a regulary basis, I bought all new wheels, I take care of my car but I don't know whats wrong with it. Please help me...
