This car was bought brand new in 2005 for my birthday, from my dad. The car is fine but the past two years the car has been acting up. I don't drive that much, just errands, school, mall, beach, I don't drive long distances..OK well lately when I try to start my car ( i put the key in the ignition) it would usely get stuck. Yes stuck like I can't turn it...I would need to force it a few times just to get my car to start. When this happens ( the key won't turn) my steering wheel would be frozen....like it won't move.....the what really weird is exactly at 10:00 p.m. my car alarm would alarm....reallly loud...I don't know what to do with it. I change the oil on a regulary basis, I bought all new wheels, I take care of my car but I don't know whats wrong with it. Please help me...

Sounds like the ignition lock cylinder has been damaged. Do you have a lot of keys on your key chain? One of the most common causes for ignition lock cylinders to become damaged is because people hang so much stuff from their key chains. All the weight is being applied to the ignition lock cylinder.

Another possibility is a theft deterrent system built into most cars. If the steering wheel is locked up, place your keys into your ignition. Next grab the steering wheel with one hand and try to turn it like you would during a turn. It won't move much, but it will release the ignition lock cylinder. WHILE applying the force to the steering wheel, try turing your key with your other hand. This should also release the steering wheel.

It's a theft deterrient system that if the keys aren't in the ignition lock, the steering wheel will lock up preventing the car from being just driven off.
