It's finally raining in Phoenix. I turned on the wipers. they went one stroke on intermitent then nothing! Never to swish again. I moved the switch a few times... nothing. I removed the fuse cover, and nothing is marked, just lots of choices with numbers.... anytime I take the van to the shop for ANYTHING, it costs $200, so does anyone know WHICH fuse it might be??? or where do I start with the problem? nothing else is malfunctioning. Any guidance would be VERY much appreciated!

the brake control we have now is a Reece, and is not digital, and is very difficult to set, a little movement of the lever will change a breaks too drastically, and we never know where we are, would a digital one fix that problem?

Yesterday the car overheated. I stopped, let it cool completely for a couple of hours, filled the reservoir. The heater was not pumping hot air at all.

Today, on the way to work, the car just quit on the freeway. Steam/smoke (white) from under the hood and the tailpipe. I was able to restart the car (with difficulty) to drive to a safe location, but much smoke/steam from the engine and tailpipe when it stopped.

Any advice would be MUCH appreciated!

The manual just says to use the "recommended lubricant" but I can't find anywhere what that would be. Please let me know what I'm looking for when I walk into the autoparts store. Thanks.

i read about it online and have just applied, but was wondering what others have done and how the process works, and what out-of-pocket expenses are there.

I just brought a Honda 500em generator, puts out “120 v AC at 3.8 amps” ; or it has a DC output “charges 12 v abtteries at DC 8 amps”. The DC is unregulated and I have been told I will get better results with a 12v battery auto type charger plugged into the generators AC outlet . Theoretically I should be able to use 20-30 amp DC charger , (AC 120 v 3.8 amps converts to DC 12 v 38 amps, a little less for efficiency/ heat loss) BUT all the 12v 20 amp battery chargers I have looked say: 120v Input : 6 amps (or more amps). Q. why is the charger needing so many more amps; what will happen if I use the charger, will it blow the generator circuit, or just put less juice. Also wondering if the 12 v battery is only partially discharged will it be drawing less than 120 v 6 amps the charger says it needs ( is the 6 amp the max amps it would use ) ?

My check engine light came on yesterday after I parked my car for an hour or so. I took it to AutoZone and got the diagnostic code P0461: The voltage signal from the fuel level sensor is out of range for the current engine operating condition. The guy there said he'd never seen that code before, and it looks like a wiring thing, and I might be able to reset it by disconnecting the battery. On the way home, I filled the tank, and the dashboard gauge reads full. Please tell me if there's something I can do at home to remedy the problem. Thanks!

is it me or is the old grouchy dude that runs that napa auto parts just pure evil? my wife went in there the other day and he gave her a 10 minute lecture about knowing your car and then he told her to just take it to a dealer and have it fixed instead of bothering him for parts

I have a 98 Saturn SC2 that does not have a front license plate frame. It is now (or has been for awhile) illegal to have only one license plate on a car in Missouri. So, my question is where in the world do I get a bracket for the front of my car to mount a license plate on? And about how much do they cost? I know where to find a frame (Walmart, any parts store), but not sure about a bracket or whatever!! Help me please! :)

Last Saturday, my battery died (I had left the headlights on overnight), and I got it replaced at AutoZone. The car ran fine until yesterday morning. It's a '98 Saturn SC2.

When I turn the keys, it cranks, but the engine doesn't start. The radio comes on, and I get the "CHECK ENGINE," "battery," and uh, I think "oil" (it looks like a dripping-faucet icon) lights. What's the deal, and what should I do?

I'm so low on money, I'm hoping a tow + the fix isn't going to kill me...

I recently purchased a 1984 Lincoln Towncar, but unfortunately the radiator was bad and after about a week of driving it, the engine overheated. I replaced the radiator but since the engine overheated it now runs with a knock. I'm not very car savvy but I'm aware that this is a problem with a rod or piston and am pondering deferent ways to deal with this.

First off, How long can a vehicle (specifically older boats) be driven with a ping in the engine?

and, How much would it cost to rebuild or replace the 5L V8 in the Towncar?

Any ideas? Or just a general understanding of a hydraulic steering system would help as well. Thank you so much. Its almost impossible to drive it on a paved road (have to get from one field to another) -Charles

currently own a 2002 Mercury Grand Marquis GS with 56,000 miles on it and have about 3 more years of payments at 288.00 a month. I found a car I like a lot its a 2003 Volkswagen Passat 1.8t with a five speed manual loaded with heated seats etc...with 45,000 miles and a full warranty untill 100,000 miles. My payments would be 290.00 a month for 5 years if I bought the VW. Or I could keep the Grand Marquis. Which car should I get and which one sounds nicer? Thanks for the help

I feel like an idiot. It was a tight space and I obviously didn't pay attention. It doesn't seem to be scuffed or dented at all, just paint that's rubbed on from the bumper. Trying to find a simple way to do this before my husband is aware!

I've put tape around the windows and pinned plastic to the underneath of the car to waterproof it. I'm going to try again in a bit. Any ideas?
