Hi, I have a '96 chevy corsica, this morning it started making a humming noise when I stop and right when i start, like at red lights. So I took it to my mechanic and he said the power steering pump is whistling and not to worry about it yet. He said he needs to order the part, and that its ok to drive -just that if it breaks it may be hard to steer. So i picked the car up and now about 4 hours later i was driving and my ABS light came on? then like 2 minutes later my radio went off, then my speedometer started jumping all around, so i drove straight home and the car was driving really rough. When i turned it off at home, now it want do anything. When I turn the key it doesnt make any noises. My interior lights come on, but not the radio? Any ideas? My grandpa said he thinks it sounds like my alternator? ~THANKS!

I have a 95 Ford Explorer and it runs just fine except when the weather gets hot, sometimes it has trouble starting. It starts and immediately dies. Sometimes it'll start if you put it in nuetral and rev up the engine for a minute or two. It only does this when the weather gets hot outside. Any other time (Fall, Winter, at night, etc.) it starts just fine with no problems. Any ideas on what could be the reason?

I thought you had twice as many valves as you do cylinders.

4x2=8. So, why do some cars have a 4 banger with 16v?

the particular engine I'm looking at is a 1.6L DOHC 16V l-4
for a subcompact car.

I have a '92 Chevy Lumina sedan, 3.1L (V-6?). I put an average of 20 to 25K in miles on it every year, and I really don't take the best care of it. Since it's headed for the junk heap in another year when I buy a new car, will it survive on 87? Every penny helps . . . : )

it never did this before, it is a 1996 Monte Carlo. Everytime i step on accelerate on the gas pedal, i look at the RPM dial and the needle jumps to 3, then the car has these slight jerks and as it jerks, the needle drops from 3 to 2.5 to 2 to 1.5 and then to 1. Someone told me it make be the transmission going out, i hope not becuase i hear they are expensive. Also, after i drive for a few minutes, when i step on the gas pedal, it takes a moment or two for it to speed up (accelerate). Can anyone please help me?

My friend has a 1999 Daewoo Nubria with 85,000 miles. The timing belt broke and bent the valves. A profesional mechanic remanufactured the head and fixed the timing belt. The car sounds and feels like it runs good now. Is this car worth the risk of buying?? thanx

My brake pads need to be changed, I'm clear on how to do it and confident that i can, but i haven't done it before. My question is, in resetting the piston in the caliper to its original position, what is the risk of the brake line being damaged due to too much pressure? Can i do this without having to bleed the brakes?

Ok, the previous owner didn't know how to take car of cars, at all. Good thing I never Directly met the man myself. Its and 84 Monte Carlo with a 229 V6. The transmission is leaking terrible. I figure the first thing I should try and replace is the gasket on the pan. what would be the next easiest thing to try if that doesn't work? If it is too hard I am gonna just replace the whole thing.

I HAVE A 2003 OLDS ALERO THAT THERE IS A NOISE COMMING FROM THE FRONT END. THE BRAKES ARE GOOD, AND THE TIRES ARE GOOD. THE NOISE HAPPENS MOST WHEN I TURN THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT. GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY IT SOUNDS LIKE THE TIRES ARE MAKING A WINEING NOISE. IF I JURK THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT YOU HERE A DIFFERENT PITCH TO THE SOUND. ITS NOT REALLY A GRINDING NOISE, IT DOES NOT HAPPEN WHEN I TURN TO THE RIGHT. THIS CAR HAS 49,000 MILES ON IT. DOES IT HAVE WHEEL BARRINGS THAT REQUIRE GREASING?THE OTHER QUESTION IS ON A 2004 DODGE STRATUS, 4CYL. THIS CAR HAS 45,000 MILES ON IT. AT A STOP AFTER ITS WARMED UP WHEN YOU START TO GO IT HESITATES, AND WHEN SITTING AT A STOP WITH YOUR FOOT ON THE BRAKE IT TRIES TO MOVE SLIGHTLY. ALSO WHEN GOING UP AN INCLINE AT A STEADY SPEED THE TRANSMISSION JERKS. IF YOU BACK OF THE GAS AND SLOWLY GIVE IT GAS ITS OK. BUT IT MAY DO IT AGAIN, YOU JUST HAVE TO PLAY WITH THE GAS PEDDLE.

one of my co-workers poured gasoline into a 5 gallon portable diesel tank that we use in case of any of our machines run out of diesel on the golf course. now the diesel tank was empty at the time he poured gasoline into it. but the other day i poured some of it into a glass just to look at it and now it has a pink shade to it(not like diesel red)..im just wondering if that gas is okay to use in our gas based machinery or if i should just get rid of it. also what is the best way to rid of it, afterall its not something you can just pour down a drain

I have an 84 Monte Carlo, with a 229 v6. Could I put a 4L60E in it? The old Trans was positively neglected by the previous owner, and I'd rather just get a new trans then try and repair it.

Hello! I have a 1997 Chrysler Concorde with about 113,000 miles on it. I love the car and it is in great condition except I have recently noticed that whenever it goes above 55 mph it starts to vibrate. It does not feel unsafe, but the vibration is definitely noticeable. The tires have recently been rotated and balanced and it has also been realigned. I'm okay with cars, but this issues goes beyond me. Does anyone have any ideas what the problem might be and how to fix it? Thanks for your time and I look forward to your responses!
