1/2 inch or 13mm wrench for top post, 5/16 inch wrench for side post. take out old battery and replace new one same way. + (Positive) is Red, - (Negative) is Black.
Put battery in position and hook up battery. Since it's an older vehicle while the vehicle is running you can disconnect one of the wires that go to the battery, if the car turns off then your alternator is gone and should be replaced. Some auto parts stores will test it for free.

GM uses side mount screw type terminals (5/16"), and a plastic hold down wedge at the bottom of the battery with either a 1/2" or 10mm screw in the center.
When replacing the battery, disconnect the NEGATIVE terminal first. That way if the wrench touches the body of the car, it won't short out.
When installing the new battery, connect the NEGATIVE last. (for the same reason)
One other thing, make sure the battery has the positive and negative connections in the same place/side.
They sell some in reverse configuration and you could ruin your car if they get hooked up backwards.
Remember RED is POSITIVE.

put it in opposite the way you take the old one out. If your generator is bad the new one will not start the car more than a few days - it won't hurt the battery though. You can also go to most auto parts stores and they will check for free.

I would suggest a mechanic to help you out. But if you want to do this yourself please becareful. Make sure you discharge your self from water, static. Go ahead and get yourself a DIY Book on your vehicle and follow the steps. There are roughly 3-4 screw/bolts that hold the battery down. Take precautions before uninstalling a battery.
