one of my co-workers poured gasoline into a 5 gallon portable diesel tank that we use in case of any of our machines run out of diesel on the golf course. now the diesel tank was empty at the time he poured gasoline into it. but the other day i poured some of it into a glass just to look at it and now it has a pink shade to it(not like diesel red)..im just wondering if that gas is okay to use in our gas based machinery or if i should just get rid of it. also what is the best way to rid of it, afterall its not something you can just pour down a drain

You can run small amounts of diesel in a gas engine at 10% the engine may ping and will smoke some I would just put a little in every gas engine you have to get rid of it. Dont use it on emissions equiped cars as it will damige the catalitic converter and might also damige the oxigen senser.
The only way I know of disposing of it legaly is to have it hauled of as hazardous chemicals. About 10 years ago it cost $4.00 a gallon to get rid of it.

I work for a pertroleum terminal and ... we add the dye to the diesel. You should be able to put that gas in your equipment. No problem.
