The reason I'm asking is some kids stole my son's tire and thru it in the lake. I say it will sink and couldn't have gone far, my husband thinks it probaly floated away

Yes it would definately float. But if it's a small lake...then you'll find it. If it's huge, and it's been out there for a while, then it's probably long gone, and I would make those little smartass kids pay for it.

Good luck.

First thing you need to do is find those kids and beat the crap out of them...second...after you find them make them pay for a new tire. Then you won't have to worry if it sank or float.

It probably sank. The air inside wouldn't offer enough flotation to offest the weight of the rims and the rubber. I vote with you; tell your husband to get his snorkel and go look for the wheel!!

if it is not a low pro tire then it definately floated away, but if it is you might get lucky and it sank. regardless, the current prob carried it off anyways

I believe a bicycle tire will sink. It doesn't displace enough water to offset the weight.

Yeah, it'll float....unless it was a low pro tire...then it might not have.
