I bought a car that had a gps tracker that could shut the car down if I didn't make payments. Could an improperly installed device cause electrical problems? I have to jump the car every time I want to start it because something is draining the battery. We've changed out the battery twice and replaced the alternator. All the fuses are fine. Thoughts?

In addition, the heating/cooling went out at the same time. Could these be related?

I've been researching this whole Dexcool thing, and am beginning to see that there are several different issues (concerns) in the forefront...

First, in my reading horror stories, a majority of "plaintifs" who got wordy enough let the cat out of the bag by stating that "low coolant levels in the radiator" (aka. "gasket failures, or leaks") happened first. GM apparently has used inferior manifold gaskets for 6 to 8 years (approx. 96 thru 2003 or 4). The evidence points more to poor materials than Dexcool...

Soooooo...

1. Will "accidentally" mixing "normal" antifreeze with Dexcool automatically sludge up the system?

2. In your "professional" experience, are more failures in the cooling systems from loss of coolant first, as in gasket failures/lack of maintenance/relying on a claim of 100,000 to 150,000 miles?

I would prefer GM techs, and mechanics who are ACTIVELY working daily with this, and those who have been doing so for at least 5 years...horror writers too, but stay factual...

I owe $6000 on it and the motor would cost $5000 including labor. This puts the money into it, more than it's even worth.

Im shopping for a pair of struts for my car sense the spring on the driver side either came off the seating plat of the strut or broke, im going to replace both side springs and struts. (59 ford escort LX ) Ive tried the gabriel ultra but they seem to give me a hard ride now i fell every bump on the road so im looking into the Monroe MacPherson Strut.
do anybody have any recommendations for a good struts that will give me a good ride at a good price. or any other parts I need to add or change to get a good ride result.( my old OEM struts gave me a softer ride and i don't know the name of them)

My car has had different occassions of not be able to start right away. Not as long as this recent one tho. Before it would turn normal, but wouldn't start. Now it kind of grinds, and the longer I let it rest, the more it started sounding normal to start, but wouldn't catch. Finally got it to catch and drove somewhere. I think it's the starter, I know it'll cost probably around $300 or so. I just wanted to see if anyone else might know what it is? It's a 97' grand am potiac.

I have a 1997 Chrysler LHS, and actually the heat has been playing with me for a couple of weeks. It used to get real hot and blow out real good and then it would stop blowing, the switch is on high, but it's blowing like it's on low or something. When I put my hand up to the vent, I can still feel warm air, it's just not blowing out and when I put it on defrost, same thing. But the rear defrost works. Can anyone tell me wha't the problem and how much it's going to cost to fix it?

My friend left an 1995 Escort GT in my garage, I have no idea why it won't start. It's got a new battery. He sent me the title for free, so it's mine. I thinking about using it as a commuter car so I don't have to put too many miles on my SAAB. I'm going to have it towed to a shop this afternoon. What are the common repairs for a car that has not run in a year or so?

My car is a 01 olds alero. When i start my car on cold weather it sounds like the engine want to rattle apart only for about 2 sec. but my main concern is that sometimes when im late for work i drive off with a cold engine the car will not go even if it accelerate a bit. (oops) I have to let it warm up. I've never had a car do that. I havent checked the fluid because it has no dipstick. It has the cap to fill only. Any advice very appreciated!

When I am going uphill or when I accelerate really fast my Chevy makes a really weird crackling noise and stumbles and loses power for a second. Then the "Service Engine" light comes on. Any freakin idea? lol. Its really annoying.

Im not really a new driver but I am a new car owner - mercedes 350sdl 1991. I would assume to change the oil and filter and copper washers every spring or every spring/fall if I have been driving a lot in the city (which is where I live). But what about "general maintenance", "inspection" "tune-up."

I dont really understand the differences between these terms. Can someone explain to me exactly what each is for and when I should have each done.

Are these general terms.. like if I go to the service station and ask for an inspection, are there different kinds or is it a general-purpose thing that will inspect everything.

Thanks.

I have a 2002 VW Jetta TDI w/ manual transmission. When I go over bumps or go around corners, my car creaks/groans. I guess this is suspension damage, but it was recently re-aligned about a month ago and they checked for suspension damage and said they didn't find any. I also had new tires put on recently and they didn't tell me anything was wrong. However, the noises concern me and I don't know what they mean. The car does not pull either direction, it doesn't make any noises that sound like mechanical problems, just the creaks and groans. It doesn't even do it every time, either, just sometimes. Our roads are very bad here. I am having someone look at it next week, but I wonder a few things: 1) Am I making a big deal out of nothing? 2) Could this be a sign of something that is making the car unsafe to drive/ride in? 3) If it is suspension damage, how much should I expect to pay for repairs? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
